Horse Racing: Grands Crus wins the Cleeve Hurdle against Big Buck’s
The officials of the Cheltenham racecourse feared that the meeting scheduled for this afternoon would be called off as the temperatures last night went below the freezing point. Therefore, the management along with the clerk of the course, Simon Claisse,
called for a second inspection that took place at 10.45 a.m. this morning. Fortunately enough, the racecourse passed the inspection and the meeting was given a go-ahead. The famed trainer, Paul Nicholls, also participated in the inspection along with a champion
jockey and said that he saw no problem with the racecourse that could make it unfit for racing. The Cheltenham racecourse thus offered some quality racing for the fans of the sport including the Rewards 4 Racing Cleeve Hurdle.
The aforementioned event was a Grade II event and was run over a distance of 3 miles and was claimed by the racehorse Grands Crus. The colt did indeed impress his fans and connections when he managed to throw down the ever dominating Big Buck’s with his
spectacular performance in the Cleeve Hurdle.
Grands Crus trains under the care of famed trainer David Pipe is a popular handicapper but this performance left the bookmakers and the racegoers absolutely stunned with his performance as he thrilled his connections by a ten length victory in the Grade
II event.
Big Buck’s is one of the most celebrated racehorses of this time as he has won all of the ten outings that he contended over hurdles. The racehorse will now be bidding for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle that has been scheduled to take place on 17 March, to secure
a third consecutive victory in the prestigious event. It was reckoned by those involved in the horse business that Big Buck’s will not be faced by any serious challenge in the upcoming event but after the racehorse’s defeat by Grands Crus, all the critics
have their doubts.
The World Hurdle sponsors along with other bookmakers are now agreeing that the winner racehorse should be cut to 3-1 behind the favourite racehorse of the firm Big Buck’s is being quoted at 4-6.
The more impressed sponsors were William Hill. It has been revealed that they slashed the champion six-year-old racehorse to 5-2 from his former odds that were at 9-1.
After Grands Crus claimed the prestigious 40,000 pounds event today, many of the other racehorses would love to be a part of Pipe’s training camp.
