Horse Racing: Group I winner, Toorak Toff retired
One of the most talented and dominating racehorse of the Australian Horse Racing Industry, Toorak Toff has been retired from the sport. The three year old champion colt was training under the care of trainer Rick h**e-Lacy, who revealed that Group I winner
was suffering from a wind infirmity and thus had to be retired.
h**e-Lacy is a part owner of the colt. Talking to the correspondents about Toff’s retirement he said that he was not satisfied with the way the colt inhaled and exhaled when he returned to scale after finishing the handicap event at Flemington in the fifth
spot to Éclair Mystic. This meeting took place on Saturday.
He also revealed that he approached Dr Alistair MacLean so that he could come and check the horse. The veterinarian told the trainer that he was right about the colt suffering from breathing issues since the left hand side of his throat, windpipe and larynx
was partly paralyzed.
The trainer then further added that his connections have decided that the colt should not be put under the stress of a surgery and if they get a good price, they will send him to stud. h**e-Lacy also said that all the major studs are interested in buying
the champion racehorse.
Talking to the correspondents, h**e-Lacy was reported as saying, “He is a very desirable stud proposition because he is the last descendant of Star Kingdom breed and he will cross very well with Danehill mares.”
He further said that almost all the studs in the country are filled with Danehill mares. Acknowledging the progeny line of the Northern Dancer and the Danehill, he said that they have been successful in producing some of the most talented and champion racehorses
for the industry in the history of Australian horse racing.
The most significant victory that the Australian three year old claimed was the Golden Rose Stakes. This was a Group I Australian Thoroughbred event that is open for racehorses of age three and above and is run over a distance of 1400 metres at the Rosehill
Racecourse in Sydney. The 2010 running of the event was won by Toorak Toff and he was awarded a prize money of AUD $ 1 million.
He has won a total of five career starts from the eleven races that he contested and will always be fancied by his fans and connections for all his spectacular performances.
