Horse Racing: Inspection at Sandown for Tinge Creek Chase
The officials at Sandown racecourse have called for an inspection that is going to start at 9 a.m. on Thursday. This is to make sure that the weather and ground conditions at the course are favorable for the Friday meeting to take place. According to the observers
at the track, despite the ground being out of frost, the course is covered with snow and is apparently untraceable.
Apart from Friday’s fixture, this track is also to host the Keith Hospitality Tingle Creek Chase meeting that is supposed to kick off on Saturday, if weather conditions improve. The clerk of the course Andrew Cooper talked to the correspondents on Wednesday
afternoon and revealed his plans of the inspection. He was reported as saying, “There has been no further snow here today, but it has barely got above freezing all day and there has been wind chill.”
He further added, commenting on the conditions of the racecourse, “There is still snow on the course, and although there isn’t frost in the ground, you wouldn’t have raced on it today.”
He also told the correspondents about the forecast of the Met Office, as he said, “The Met Office is suggesting another five centimeters of snow overnight from 9 p.m. onwards, and if that materializes we will struggle to race.”
As far as the weekend’s meetings are concerned, the Tingle Creek has been flaunted more and thus is the more anticipated event. Some of the most talented racehorses will feature in this race. Amongst them, Twist Magic has already won this event twice. Meanwhile,
Master Minded has also claimed victory in the 2008 edition of this event and now is heading forward to win this race once again under the famed horseman Tony McCoy. Other significant colts that will be completing the field of ten competitors also include Kinkeel,
Somersby and Gauvin.
If the results of the inspection do not turn out to be supporting the meeting taking place at Sandown, there are high chances that this fixture will be shifted to Chaltenham. On the other hand, the Friday meeting is also of no less importance. The card will
be featuring the Grade II novices’ hurdle event along with a Listed intermediate chase.
The fans of the sport, analysts and all those involved in the horse business are eager to know the conclusion of the inspection. The big freeze has claimed several other scheduled meeting this weekend. The weather forecasters have revealed that the weather
is to remain extreme this week; however the expected improvement next week will not be long lasting either.
