Horse Racing: Jessies Dream to go for RSA Chase
Jessies Dream did indeed disappoint his fans, connections and all those involved in the horse business after he lost the Leopardstown meeting that took place on Sunday, to Magnanimity. Nonetheless, those who are optimistic think
that the talented racehorse will prove his mettle in the RSA Chase, for which he is being considered a dominant contender.
The trainer of Jessies Dream, Gordon Elliott today confirmed that his trainee would be heading forward to the RSA Chase, which is a feature event of the upcoming and much awaited Cheltenham Festival. Gordon was also pretty upset
and disappointed at the same time that his horse could not claim the Grade II Tote Pick Six Killiney Chase at Leopardstown two days ago.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Leopardstown meeting is heading back to contend the Dr P J Moriarty Novice Chase. The Grade I race is scheduled to take place on the 6th of February at the Leopardstown racecourse. Jessies
Dream was held off by Magnanimity by three quarters of a length. The two rivals will be encountering each other in this racing season. Magnanimity is a 7-year-old colt and trains under the care of famed trainer Dessie Hughes. It was a good day for Dessie Hughes
yesterday as two of his trainees claimed different events at Leopardstown.
On the other hand, when Elliott was inquired about the development of his colt before the flaunted Cheltenham Festival, he said that Jessies Dream was pretty sound this morning. As for the Moriarty meeting, he said that the Cheltenham
Festival and the aforementioned event will be taking place with less of a time span and thus Jessies Dream’s connections have decided that the racehorse will skip the meeting at Leopardstown and instead train for the Cheltenham Festival.
Talking about his trainee’s shock defeat day before yesterday, Elliot said that the race at Leopardstown was “messy” and “inconclusive”. However, he said that the fans need not be disappointed, as they will be witnessing a better
racehorse on the track in a bigger field and at faster pace. Elliott claimed all of this would be seen at Cheltenham.
Jessies Dream was expected to claim a hat trick on Sunday, as he is the winner of the Galway event that took place in October. After that, he also took over the field in the Grade I Drinmore Novice Chase that took place at Fairyhouse
last month. The racehorse is the 16-1 favourite with the sponsors for the RSA Chase.
