Horse Racing: Jump ground being referred to as ‘lovely’ at Fairyhouse
Horse racing’s fans and all those involved in the horse business including the sports analysts and the connections of the champion racehorses are looking forward to the Easter meeting at the Fairyhouse racecourse, scheduled to begin on Sunday, 24th
April.
One of the most awaited racing events of the season, the Irish Grand National meeting will be providing the contestants of the event with a ‘lovely hunt ground’. The meeting will go on for three days.
According to the weather reports and otherwise, Ireland has had a long and unseasonal spell of warm weather. This has been the case for about more than three weeks now. The acting manager of the Fairyhouse racecourse, Peter Roe, also confessed that the unusual
warm weather could pose a challenge for the Grand National meeting’s competitors.
While talking to correspondents regarding the conditions of the racecourse on Saturday, Roe said, “We’ve had to use all kinds of methods to water the ground and we have used a lot of water. It’s still warmer than I’d like but temperatures are expected to
fall a bit from Sunday onwards.”
The acting manager of the famous racecourse further said that he is pleased with the condition of the ground and is hoping that the racehorses will have a good time running on it. He also said that his team has worked for the tuning up of the track.
Peter Roe further added that he’s had a number of trainers and riders walk over the track and they seemed pretty satisfied with it. Closing the conversation, the acting manager said that all he wants is that the ground stays the way it is for the three days
(during the festival).
The John Smith’s Grand National meeting at the Aintree racecourse was not a very good experience for many jockeys and trainers as two of the racehorses died at the end of the race while others were injured. The jump trainers blamed the fast pace of the race
and the hot weather for the contenders to get extremely exhausted.
