Horse Racing: Jump racing to resume on Tuesday
The sport of jump racing will be resumed in Britain after the big freeze and the heavy snowfall claimed almost all the horse racing events that were scheduled to take place in the last end of November and throughout this month. There were record-breaking
changes in the calendar and the fans were extremely annoyed with the fixtures being abandoned and postponed during the winter racing season. Now that the extreme weather conditions are warming up, the jump racing events in the country will start taking place
again from Tuesday as the officials of the Ffos Las have declared the racecourse as being fit for racing.
The fans of the sport in Britain and Ireland have been deprived of any jump event since the 18th of December. They were finally overwhelmed with excitement when it was announced today that Ffos Las does not require any inspection to give the seven
race fixture scheduled for Tuesday, a go ahead.
Talking to the correspondents about the current conditions of the track, the clerk of the course Tim Long said that racing could even take place today since the forecast does not predict anything that is likely to affect the prospects of the racing on Tuesday.
He went on to say that the management of the course was extremely delighted to know that the rainfall last night caused 95 percent of the snow to drain away with it and since the snow was there on the covers, they did not have to face the trouble of the frozen
track.
He further added that the temperature will remain at about 5C to 56C today and the minimum forecast for the night is 4C, meanwhile it will warm up again to 5C to 6C in the day tomorrow.
On the other hand, the Lingfield meeting that was scheduled to take place on Tuesday is now subject to a morning inspection by the management of the racecourse. The inspection has been planned to take place at 6.30 a.m. in the morning before the Tuesday’s
all-weather card kicks off.
The inspection was announced as a result of the forecast that predicted a band of sleet and snow to pass over the racecourse early in the day on Tuesday. Moreover, an inspection has also been planned for the Leopardstown meeting as well as the Limerick fixture
on Tuesday. The melting and thawing of snow in the aforementioned racecourses is posing a threat to the meeting. Both the meetings are subject to an inspection that will begin at 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
