Horse Racing: Kauto Star bled after finishing third
The champion racehorse finished the much anticipated and flaunted William Hill King George VI Chase in the third place. The event took place on Saturday at the Kempton racecourse. It was reported by his famed trainer Paul Nicholls that the superstar colt
was bleeding after the race. Nonetheless, it has also been revealed that the champion was in good health on Sunday morning and is all set to steal the show as he is heading forward to claim the Totesport Gold Cup for the third time. The news did indeed catch
a lot of attention of all those who admire the superstar and are involved in the horse business.
According to the twitter profile of the champion trainer, the racehorse was found to be bleeding a little after the King George race, but he was found to be fine this morning and now will be heading forward for the Gold Cup.
It is also intriguing for the trainer and the Kauto Star’s connections because it was the first time that the racehorse bled after finishing a race, in his 36 race career. Paul Nicholls was thus reported as saying that since it was the first time the racehorse
bled after a race, it definitely did make much difference in his performance. He added that he is not aware if the champion was also bleeding during the meeting at Kempton, but when the crew returned home last night, they discovered that Kauto Star’s nostrils
were bleeding.
As for the future plans, the trainer revealed that the racehorse will once again return to the meeting in the next racing season. Moreover, Paul Nicholls also told the correspondents that he will target the champion colt for the Down Royal in the autumn
racing season. The eleven year old racehorse has claimed the event twice before including the Grade I JNWine.com Champion Chase that took place at Down Royal racecourse last November.
When the famed trainer was inquired about the retirement plans of the superstar racehorse, he said that it was too early for him to say anything regarding his retirement after he lost the King George meeting, for which he was the hot favourite contender
with the sponsors. Paul Nicholls also added that he feels that Kauto Star is having a good time competing and running and hence he deserves to continue. He added that the colt is only 11 and not 13 that he should be considered for retirement.
