Horse Racing: Khyber Kim expected in the William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle
Khyber Kim will be going out to contend at the prestigious William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle at the Ffos Las racecourse on 5 February.
In the last racing season, Khyber Kim finished second in the Champion Hurdle. Nonetheless, this racing season the racehorse managed to finish the significant Christmas Hurdle, fourth, behind Nicky Henderson’s Binocular. The event
took place on Saturday and it was sponsored by Williamhill.com. Moreover, Khyber Kim is expected to encounter another of Henderson’s trainees in the Grade II Welsh meeting that has been scheduled to take place this Saturday. The racehorse trained by Henderson,
Oscar Whisky will be putting his Champion Hurdle claims to the test.
Twiston-Davies was reported as saying, “We will give him the (World Hurdle) entry, but I have not discussed it with the owner yet, and he will possibly run next in the Welsh Champion Hurdle next month, which is obviously over two
miles.”
Twiston-Davies said after the race that took place on Saturday that the connections of the racehorse were not certain about sending out the talented hurdler to contend the Ladbrokes World Hurdle that will be run over a distance
of 3 miles. Instead, they want Khyber Kim to participate in the Stan James Champion Hurdle, as he will be rather more comfortable to run in the 2-mile event.
The trainer further added that it was extremely important for Khyber Kim to be a part of the hurdle event, after he gave a disappointing performance by finishing the race 13 lengths behind the winner.
