Horse Racing: Leopardstown subject to inspection on Tuesday
The Leopardstown meeting that is scheduled to take place on Tuesday has been announced to be subject to inspection. It has been revealed that the inspection will take place at 7.30 in the morning tomorrow. The management of the racecourse is however hopeful
that the meeting will get a go ahead since the snow on the track has almost melted thus raining the prospects of the event taking place.
The officials of the racecourse have been reported to have taken a round of the track this morning. Even though the track is free of any frozen snow, the water remaining on the track called for a final inspection tomorrow morning. The manager of the racecourse,
Tom Burke was fairly optimistic today when questioned about the conditions of the track as he said that things have significantly changed now from what they were before. He also added that he was surprised that the snow melted so fast and only a patch close
to the first fence in the back left. Nonetheless, he further added that that the management was now facing a different problem that of water logging since they had to thaw the track instantly after the snow had melted.
The racecourse manager told the correspondents that his officials are expecting that the water will be drained by tonight, however there is a forecast for a little rainfall but hopefully not heavy rainfall.
Talking to the correspondents, he was reported as saying, “After checking out the track this morning, we decided to hold another inspection in the morning, but I’d have to say that we are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to get the meeting underway
tomorrow.”
The most flaunted races of the Tuesday’s card include the pair of Grade I events, the Lexus Chase and the Fort Leney Novice Chase.
Moreover, the officials of the Limerick racecourse are also planning to inspect the track at 7.30 tomorrow morning to make the final decision of Tuesday’s meeting. When the track was assessed this morning, it was found unfit for racing since it was frozen
in many places. The Monday fixture was moved to Tuesday by the Limerick management on Sunday. The prospects for this particular event are decreasing as the snow and the extremely frosty conditions of the area are most likely to claim the event, meanwhile Paul
Nicholls has withdrawn his colt What A Friend from the Leopardstown meeting (Lexus Chase) because of the ground being waterlogged.
