Master Minded gave a mind blowing performance once again at the Keith Prowse Hospitality Tingle Creek Chase. The event took place at Cheltenham. The spectators were rewarded generously for their money spent by Master Minded’s superior performance and skill.
He was entertaining and thrilling to watch.
Trainer Paul Nicholls felt his efforts paid off when he saw Master Minded jumping the hurdles flawlessly. Nicholls expressed his sentiments in the following words: “That was brilliant - it's been a fairly trying week, but it has all paid off. He's electric,
he jumped brilliantly again today.”
Nicholls confessed that Master Minded had a breathing operation in the summer because the trainer felt that it was hindering the horse’s performance. Nicholls feels that after the operation Master Minded’s performance has significantly improved and undergoing
the operation has contributed towards winning the Tingle Creek Chase.
"I was really nervous beforehand, but it's great to have him back. He's improved enormously since Ascot - and to be fair I needed to see him put two runs together. Now he has come back and won twice like that, I'm a lot more confident ahead of the Champion
Chase.”
The bettors who had staked their money on Master Minded were exuberant to see Master Minded win the hurdle race. The horse, which was trading at 10/11 has been made the market leader for next year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Noel Fehily, the rider of Master Minded was also able to achieve a much awaited victory. Fehily made Master Minded overtake Petit Robin near the end of the chase. Master Minded jumped the last two fences and sprinted the last eight-lengths towards victory.
Fehily had recently recovered from a shoulder injury. It had taken him eight months to be able to ride. This victory was necessary for him to prove that he was still in form.
However, there was a moment where on-lookers thought that I’m So Lucky and Petit Robin ridden by Barry Geraghty, would stay ahead of Master Minded and ride on towards the end.
But at the last moment, Master Minded took the lead, making I’m So Lucky come second. The third position was secured by Somersby which was ridden by Hadden Frost.
