Horse Racing: No improvement in condition of Monet’s Garden
Previously, it was reported that the racehorse Monet’s Garden was victimized by a fatal infection in his hoof that poses a great threat to his life. Today, his trainer Nicky Richards revealed that there was no significant change
in the medical condition of the racehorse, as he showed neither improvement nor deterioration the previous night.
The famous 13-year-old grey colt is well known for his three-time victory in the Old Roan Chase that takes place at Aintree every October of the racing season. After he claimed the event for the 3rd time, he was put
down by a fatal infection that caused him to undergo intensive treatment at the Oaklands Veterinary Centre, which is situated in Yarm, Cleveland, for quite some time.
When Richards was approached by the correspondents to inquire about the medical condition of his trainee, he was reported as saying that he discussed the matter with the vets twice today after he got to know that there was no change
in Monet’s Garden health. He revealed that the vets declared his condition as steady, which means there was no change.
He further added that the colt’s connections have flooded with some helpful suggestions regarding his infection by his fans and all those well-wishers involved in the horse business. Richards said that it is not easy to deal with
a sick racehorse, but the degree of support received from the racing industry for the veteran horse has been overwhelming.
Richards went on to thank the vets since he said that they have been  extremely cooperative during the whole situation, particularly Caroline Blackiston, who did all that she could in her capacity to help the ailing racehorse.
Richards said, “Every day is very vital now. The last thing anybody wants is for the old horse to suffer. We don’t want to see any deterioration in him or anything like that.”
Monet’s Garden credit list records some spectacular performances, including his three Grade 1 victories, particularly the one that he claimed in the 2007 edition of the Old Roan Chase event against the dominating Kauto Star. As
a result, he won a great deal of fan following by his splendid bold-jumping performances.
