Horse Racing: Planet Of Sound to feature in King George
The trainer of the talented racehorse Planet of Sound, Philip Hobbs, confirmed today that his trainee will be featuring in the much anticipated William Hill King George VI Chase that has been rescheduled to take place this Saturday. The event was previously
postponed due to the big freeze that has encompassed the whole of Britain and Ireland. The trainer is indeed delighted with his colt’s entry into the mega event and has a firm conviction that the nine-year-old has great talent and potential to claim the meeting.
The racehorse is owned and has been bred by Charles Lloyd Baker and has been training under the care of Philip Hobbs. Planet of Sound has a number of victories to his credentials which includes that one that he clinched in the Grade I Punchestown Guinness
Gold Cup that took place last season. He won this event by holding off two of his major rivals Denman and Cooldine. As for this racing season, the nine-year-old racehorse was the third place finisher in the Grade I Betfair Chase that took place at Haydock.
Kauto Star, who is popularly known as the long time ante post dominator, is still the hot favourite with the sponsors for the King George meeting that will be taking place at the Kempton racecourse this weekend. Nonetheless, the trainer of Planet Of Sound
is pretty optimistic about the development of the racehorse and is of the view that if he managed to get the odds of 16-1 with the sponsors for this meeting, he is very much likely to claim the prestigious event. He also said that Planet Of Sound has high
chances of winning the race if the champion Kauto Star fails to steal the show on Saturday.
When Hobbs was approached by the sports correspondents about the upcoming event and the participation of Planet of Sound, he was reported as saying that he is very hopeful that his trainee will give a splendid performance. He also added that it would the
best if it doesn’t rain since the colt is not very much fond of the soft going that follows, however he said that he will contend the fixture anyway, despite the rain. He further went on to say that if Kauto Star maintains his dominating performance and if
he is in his best form, then it would be rather impossible for Planet Of Sound to hold him off. Hobbs then said that he would be then be delighted with even a place, and is hopeful of that.
