Horse Racing: Slow Pace claims Listed event
The racing industry of France is providing fans with a great deal of quality racing this season. Where the Qipco 2000 Guineas event is much awaited by all those involved in the horse business at the Newmarket racecourse, the Listed event that took place
on April 18, 2011, was also thoroughly enjoyed by those, who follow the sport.
The event is well know by the name of Prix de Suresnes and took place at the Maisons-Laffitte racecourse. The racehorses of age three contended this race over a distance of 1 mile and 1 furlong.
Spectators, including a number of sports analysts, commented on the race saying that it was very interesting to watch two of the champion racehorses of the country run against each other in such close competition that they try to hold off each other throughout
the race, leaving behind the rest of the field.
These two colts were the winner, Slow Pace, and the runner up to the winner War Pact. Slow Pace, a trainee of Freddy Head, was ridden by Olivier Peslier and was seen to be very impressive in the race that had purse money of fifty-five thousand Euros.
Nonetheless, it has been reported that none of the front running racehorses can be considered for the European Classic event as both of them gelded in the last racing season.
There is no doubt that the son of Distorted Humor, Slow Pace gave a spectacular performance in this event, as he defeated War Pact by a distance of a length and a half, and now is unbeaten in the two starts that he contended this season so far. The racehorse
is owned by Wertheimers brothers.
When his pleased trainer, Freddie Head, was reported as saying regarding the progress of the racehorse, “He was a very difficult at two so we castrated him and it’s done a lot of good”. He further went on to say, “He has made a lot of progress since his
debut and now we’ll have to see where he goes”.
On the other hand, the runner up to the winner, War Pact has been nominated to contend the exalted American Triple Crown events. He still has no chance of being one of the 20 contenders in the field of Kentucky Derby. Meanwhile, he still has the offer to
be a part of the other two legs of the crown.
