Horse Racing: Snow Fairy set to run in Hong Kong Cup
The Hong Cup has been fixed to take place on the 12th of December, 2010. Snow Fairy, the two-time winner of the Oaks is all set to steal the show, as she has started to train at Sha Tin.
The superstar filly came to Hong Kong this weekend, after she ran in Japan, where she took over the field in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup .This prestigious tournament was kicked-off on 14th November. Her training sessions for the upcoming Hong Kong Cup started from Monday and will continue under the supervision of Robin Trevor-Jones. She will then be training under the care of her trainer, Ed Dunlop, who will arrive next week. It has also been revealed that she will be ridden by famed jockey, Ryan Moore, who was also aboard her during her success in Japan.
According to Trevor-Jones, Snow Fairy is enjoying training and has also started to gain the weight; she had lost for the Japan meet. He was quoted as saying,
“She was not herself when she got to Tokyo and, though she won so easily, you could see that she had had a race. The boss undoubtedly made the right decision to bypass the Japan Cup – the race would have come too soon and it is a tough enough assignment for a three year old filly anyway.”
He also went on to acknowledge the achievements of the champion jockey, Ryan Moore, which will add to the chances of Snow Fairy winning the meet in Hong Kong, this December. Talking about Moore, Trevor-Jones said,
“Ryan Moore, who won the World Cup Super Jockey’s Challenge in Japan on Sunday, is coming over to ride Snow Fairy again, which has to be a big plus, but it looks like being a very competitive race and Vision D’Etat, who win the race last year, will be a major threat from France.”
Horse Racing fans are looking forward to see the great filly run in Hong Kong, after her spectacular performance in Japan. After the Japan Cup and the Dubai meetings, this will be the first major international racing event, that will be enjoyed by the fans and those involved in the horse business. While the big freeze has caused the abandonment of fixtures across Britain and Ireland, Hong Kong Cup will be a great treat for the passionate fans of this sport.
