Horse Racing: Tazeez to run at Duty Free at World Cup, Dubai

The winner of the Grade III Joel Stakes that took place at Newmarket last October, Tazeez is being targeted for the much anticipated horse racing event, the Dubai International Racing Carnival that is scheduled to take place next month at Meydan. The colt
trains under the care of trainer John Gosden, whose trainee Dar Re Mi gave a splendid performance on the World Cup night last year, when he won the Dubai Sheema Classic race. Now the fans and analysts of the sport are expecting a similar performance from Tazeez
as he will be heading for the Duty Free Stakes in Dubai.
Tazeez is also the winner of the 2008 edition of the Cambridgeshire meeting and has a pretty impressive list of credentials. Some of his most memorable starts include the one last year in which he finished third to Byword. This was the Prince of Wales’s
Stakes at the Royal Ascot, and then once again he finished in the third spot behind his stable mate Debussy in the famed Arlington Million race.
When his trainer Gosden was approached, he was reported as saying, “Tazeez is being targeted at the Dubai Duty Free on World Cup night and we plan to fly him in only a week before as we did with Dar Re Mi. before that, we have Azmeel who will be in action
earlier at the Carnival.”
On the other hand, Azmeel has generally had a good racing career so far. He has won four of the seven career starts he has had. As a three year old colt, he raced two Grade III events which included the Sandown Classic Trial and the Dee Stakes that took
place at Chester in the spring meeting. After these events, he was not able to live up to the standards set by him as he was the tenth place finisher in the Investec Derby. He then featured in the Grade II meeting at Maisons-Lafitte in July in which he also
gave a rather disappointing performance by finishing in the ninth place in a field of ten competitors.
As the Dubai International Racing Carnival is underway next month, other racing events are taking place in Meydan. Meanwhile the 1 mile and 11/2 furlongs handicap that took place at Meydan on Thursday evening was ruled by the champion racehorse Trois Rois.
He managed to hold off the hot favourite Kal Berg who was running at quite a good pace under the jockey William Buick. On the other hand, the winner was a trainee of Ismail Mohammed and was ridden by Ted Durcan.
