Horse Racing: Tiday Bay to take over the field at Wetherby
Tidal Bay satisfied his trainer Howard Johnson with his performance in a galloping session that followed the race at Pontefract yesterday. Howard declared Tiday Bay as being its “super form” for the Wetherby.
Talking to the correspondents Howard said, “He is in super form. He has a racecourse spin last night and we’ll start him off over three miles in the John Smith’s Hurdle at Wetherby and then decode what we’ll do from there”.
Tiday Bay is the winner of the 2008 Arkle Trophy and his trainer Johnson has still not decided or revealed what the nine year horse will be doing over the coming couple of weeks. When questioned about his future plans, Johnson said, “He’s (Tiday Bay) nine
years old now and we’re still trying to work out his best trip. He’s a funny horse, sometimes he takes to fences and sometimes he does not”.
Johnson also stated that he is highly skeptical of Door Boy and Knockavilla contending the Grade II Old Roan Chase at Aintree this weekend (Saturday). The management of the event has registered 12 entries so far, which include Monet’s Garden (trained by
Nicky Richards) and Albertas Run (trained by Jonjo O’Neill).
Meanwhile, Tom George will be running Tartak. Sports analyst and experts are hoping that the aforementioned jockey and his horse will make an effective comeback this season since he concluded some of the very significant races in defeat. Tom George, has
been struggling with his seven year old horse to win a start since he made a beginners’ follow at Aintree in April last year.
George said, “His jumping was very jittery in the same race last year and it took him three runs to get going. This time we have schooled him six times”.
Wehtherby Racecourse is situated in West Yorkshire England and is particularly famous for the Grade II Castleford Chase and the Grade II Charlie Hall Chase. This racecourse is the only one in Yorkshire that plays a host to National Hunt jump meetings.
The jump season at the Wetherby racecourse started on the 14th of October this year. The first victory was made by the trainer Brian Ellison whose horse Bring Sweets was sent off for the opening for 11-2 shot. John Dawson, the jockey, stumbled
to the ground on Barden Brook on the opening day of the jump season.
