Horse Racing: Tony McCoy to partner with Finger On the Pulse in Gold Cup
After the racehorse Dancing Tornado was not allowed to run in the Vote AP Gold Cup that will be taking place on Saturday at Cheltenham, the celebrated jockey Tony McCoy looks all ready to mount the colt, Finger On the Pulse.
The colt is owned by JP McManus and has been training under the care of the trainer Tom Taffe. There is a general 20-1 chance that McCoy will be aboard Finger On the Pulse in the Gold Cup since Davy Russell has been pencilled in
to ride the Psycho for Tony Martin. However, at the time of declaration, Tony Martin did not announce as to which jockey will partner his horse in the event. One of the other contenders of the race, who is also owned by JP McManus, is Sunnyhillboy, who will
be ridden by the jockey Richie McLaren.
Robinson Collonges will be ridden by Harry Skelton since Noel Fehily has been declared unfit for riding by Dr. Michael Turner and BHA. He will not be taking part in any of the horse racing events this weekend. His return to the
field has been delayed after he was supervised by the doctor. This announcement was made on Thursday. Though it was anticipated that the jockey will make it to Cheltenham on Friday, but the situation for his return does not seem very promising. He hurt his
wrist during the race at Newbury in November after he fell to the ground.
According to the trainer Paul Nicholls, “Noel has just been told by Dr. Turner that he won’t allow him to ride this weekend! He should have been here watching schooling.”
Fehily was to ride Al Feron on Friday. He has now been replaced by the jockey Sam Thomas in the event. Meanwhile, he was also appointed to ride Master Minded in the Keith Prowse Hospitality Tingle Creek Chase that will be run at
Cheltenham on Saturday. Now that he is unfit to render his services as a jockey, Tony McCoy will be riding Master Minded on the weekend.
On the other hand, this has given Tony McCoy another chance to prove the best of his talent and potential in the upcoming events so that his prospects of winning the Sports Personality of the Year Award increase significantly.
He is the first jockey to have ever won the Sportsman of the Year Award in the 62-year history of the exalted SJA award.
