Horse Racing: Towester to host extra meetings on Monday
After the big freeze victimized almost all the racing events that were scheduled to take place in the past one-and-a-half month, a number of racecourses staged a couple of racing extra racing fixtures to provide the fans of the sport with some quality racing
after they have been deprived of them for quite some time. Hence, the Towester racecourse has stepped forward to host extra meeting on Monday. The list has been boosted to three and it has been reported that the racecourse will be staging a seven-race replacement
card.
The two racecourses that were chosen by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) were Taunton and Wolverhampton, to stage the racing events on Monday. Nonetheless, Towester was then chosen by the authority to host the extra meetings because the management
of the course agreed upon contributing an amount of 13,000 pounds towards the prize money of the race. On the other hand, the basic rate that was provided by BHA has been revealed to be 25,000 pounds.
When the Racing Manager of the authority, Stuart Middleton, was approached by the correspondents regarding the extra race fixtures at Towester, he was reported as saying that he is indeed delighted that the management of the racecourse stepped in and contributed
13,000 pounds for the prize money. He said that Towester should be appreciated for agreeing to this in such a short notice by the authority thus allowing it to plan the card on a much stronger platform than it would have been otherwise. He further went on
to say that his team is hopeful that they will be successful in programming the racing events in a similar manner in the coming weeks of the spring racing season.
As for the entries for the extra fixtures, the deadline has been announced to be the 12 p.m. on Friday. On the other hand, the declarations of the entries will be made by 10 a.m.on Sunday morning.
Talking about the goings, it has been revealed that the one for the hurdles course has been described as being soft on Thursday. Meanwhile the going of the chase course has been reported to be good to soft, soft in places.
Amongst the other major horse racing events that have been scheduled to take place this week is the much awaited William Hill King George VI Chase which will be kicking off at Kempton this Saturday.
