Horse Racing: Twist Magic expected to contend Peterborough
It is not a very good news for all the Keith Prowse Hospitality Tingle Creek Chase that the champion of the event, Twist Magic, will not be featuring in the Chase on Saturday at Cheltenham. This is because the racehorse will be going out to contend the Toesport.com Peterborough Chase that has been scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Huntington racecourse since the officials have given a go ahead to the event as the country is starting to warm up slightly.
The eight year old has already claimed the honours in two of the previous editions of Tingle Creek under the training of Paul Nicholls, who trains the colt for his owners Tony Hayward, Barry Fulton and Michael Lynch. He won his Grade I starts in his hometown of Sandown, meanwhile his performance at the Cheltenham racecourse has not been very remarkable, with form figures revealed to be of F6FP.
The trainer Paul Nicholls is absolutely fine with the decision to withdraw Twist Magic to contend the Tingle Creek at Cheltenham, as he has sent out two of his best racehorses namely Master Minded and Poquelin for Saturday’s event.
Pauls Nicholls tweeted, “If Huntingdon is on Sunday Twist Magic runs in Peterborough Chase.”
Twist Magic is already the dual winner of the Grade I meeting, but his fans and sports analysts are enthusiastic to see him contend the Grade II Peterborough Chase that will be run over a distance of 2 mile and 41/2 furlongs on Sunday. The most competition that Twist Magic will face in this start is expected to come from Tartak.
The seven year old colt, Tartak trains under the care of trainer Tom George and was the second place finisher to Deep Purple in the race that took place last year. He carried a weight of 11st 10lb, meanwhile it has been revealed that in this edition of the event he will be running under 11st, since he failed to win the race last season.
His trainer, Tom George has said on his official website, “Tartak is on schedule for the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon. We are very pleased the meeting has been rescheduled and fingers crossed racing will go ahead on Sunday!”
The clerk of the Huntingdon racecourse, Andrew Morris, is very excited for the fixture on the weekend and has said that the chances of the race not falling to the big freeze are indeed very high.
