Horse Racing Update: Colm Murphy announces Big Zeb’s bid
Colm Murphy issued a bulletin on Tuesday about his favourite colt Big Zeb. He declared that his racehorse will be running in the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase to claim the event for the second time over a period spanning three years.
Talking to the correspondents about Big Zeb’s bid in the event, Murphy said that he was more than happy about his champion colt especially after he also made an impressive comeback in the event that took place last month at Navan where he defeated the dominating
Golden Silver. Golden Silver is the second favourite with 9-4 for the race, meanwhile Big Zeb will be sent out as a 6-4 favourite by the sponsors.
The leading racehorse, Big Zeb featured in the Seasons Holidays Champion Chase at the much flaunted Cheltenham Festival and he was thus adorned with the Horse of the Year title at the Horse Racing Ireland Awards that took place this month. Murphy was reported
as saying, “He is a completely different horse now to when he won the same race two years ago and that was his first run back that year.”
He went on to say that he was given some time to rest on purpose after the Navan meeting so that he could start fresh at the upcoming event. He added that it was a pretty good plan and turned out as was expected.
Talking about the race on Monday, Murphy said that he would really appreciate that the ground is good. Nonetheless he added that his horse has the potential to give remarkable performances on almost every sort of grounds. He further said that if the ground
is heavy then there is something for him to worry about.
When asked about the rivals of Big Zeb in the Dial-A-Bet Chase, Murphy said that Golden Silver has developed into a way better racehorse this racing season and has been improving with every run. About Captain Cee Bee, he said, “Captain Cee Bee is on the
up and potentially could be anything and they are a couple (Golden Silver and Captain Cee Bee) that have to be respected.”
The track is presently covered with a layer of snow that is about five inches thick before which there were frozen patches on Monday morning. Today, the ground was officially declared to be soft.
