Horse Racing: Utah moving ahead for victory at Wagga

The racehorse Utah is expected to give a spectacular performance at Wagga on Friday and make his owner and trainer proud of him. The race will take place on Friday, the 26th of November 2010, for which Utah is a strong contender.
His Wagga trainer, Brad Witt who is very pleased, was reported as saying, “He is a lovely horse. I just wish he was sound then he would be a serious racehorse.”

The trainer went on to say, “He has had plenty of problems ranging from bad knees and hocks and a couple of other niggling problems.”
Brad Witt added while talking to the correspondents about the positions of the colt in the upcoming event, “It has been hard to get him on track, but he looks a lot better for this run than what he did first-up at Canberra.”
The colt Utah will start this meet from a wide alley of 16 contenders with Jason Collins who is a top beginner jockey. The jockey needs to cut down on his weight and bring it to 59 kg in the 1200 metre Tarcoola Turf Handicap, which is a Grade II event.
Utah is the son of the former sprinter champion Fastnet Rock. The four year old colt has the honour of winning at Wagga twice and has stolen the shows with his spectacular performances in these events.
Before his legs started troubling him, Utah ran fifth to Beaveroo in the Wagga Guineas. His trainer quoted while talking to the correspondents, “It would be nice reward for the owners of he was able to win.”
Brad Witt further said, “I can’t do a lot of galloping with him because of the problems he has had, but I’m happy where he is at.”
Utah’s trainer has his fingers crossed and is hoping that his horse will make it to all the preparation sessions that are going to precede the event at Wagga, despite his health issues. Even though, the galloper colt usually gets to the outside of the track,
he stayed to the inside at Canberra (first-up). According to his trainer, this was something that was against Utah’s racing style. As Brad Witt went on to say, “It was a slow track and the last race of the day, it wasn’t his go. Back to his home track and
with the benefit of the run will be competitive.”
