Horse Racing: William Hill King George VI Chase put on hold by two competitors
The much-anticipated event, the William Hill King George VI Chase that was scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Kempton racecourse is now subject to a midday inspection that will discuss the prospects of the race, keeping in
view the current weather conditions in the country.
Two of the eleven final declarations that were announced this morning included the racehorses Forpadydeplaster and Sizing Europe. It has been revealed that the two colts got their travelling plans called off on Thursday after it
was announced that the Kempton meeting would only get a final go ahead after the inspection on Friday.
Sizing Europe was reported to have left his trainer’s Waterford home along with his stable mates that included House Rules and Loose My Load. Nonetheless, the Henry de Bromhead’s trainee was made to turn back when it was found
that Kempton was victimized by extreme weather conditions and snow and was subject to a midday inspection.
When the correspondents approached the trainer, De Bromhead, he said that he would discuss the current scenario with the clerk of the Kempton racecourse Barney Clifford, once again today. However, he added that we will assume that
there will be no meeting taking place on Sunday and he will go ahead with his racehorse (Sizing Europe) only if the race is moved on to Monday’s card. He further added that Loosen My Load is expected to make an appearance in the Bord na Mona with Nature Novice
Chase that has been scheduled to take place at Leopardstown on the 30th of December.
On the other hand, the other colt, Forpadydeplaster was not even sent off by his trainer Tome Cooper, from his base. While talking to the correspondents about this matter today, he was reported as saying,
“He was going to go today, but the forecast is not great.”
He went on to say, “I was talking to Barney Clifford last night and it doesn’t look hopeful. We will review the situation on Friday. There are no problems for us getting to the boat, or Kempton, and we can go when we like.”
Meanwhile, the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Horseman, Tony McCoy was delighted with his first session that he had with the superstar colt Kauto Star. McCoy will now be riding Kauto Star in the William Hill meeting, while
he was initially supposed to contend the event in partnership with Albertas Run.
