Horse Racing: Zenyatta and Blame in competition
Those who witnessed the two champion racehorses of the American horse racing industry encounter each other at Churchill Downs in the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November of the last racing season, know how hard it is for one to decide whether which of the two
racehorses deserve the Horse of the Year Award. Many might say that Zenyatta deserves the award more than Blame because she was denied the honour last year as well. But then those who favour Blame argue that he should be adorned with the title since he was
the only racehorse who was successful in holding off The Queen of the racing industry, Zenyatta.
The suspense will continue by tonight as the racing industry will finally announce the Horse of the Year 2010 winner, meanwhile a close competition is expected between Blame and Zenyatta.
The finalists of the Eclipse Award have been announced to be, not unexpectedly, the champion colt Blame and the sophisticated filly Zenyatta. The winner will be presented with the exalted award at the ceremony that will take place this evening at the Fontainebleau
Miami Beach.
The voting for the Eclipse Award was done by the critics of the sport and officials of the racetrack. It has been reported that the voting for the best horse of the season was completed on the 4th of this month, meanwhile those who got the highest
number of votes in each category were announced as the finalists of the most prestigious award of the industry.
When some of the writers and officials were inquired as to whom did they vote for, they said that they voted for Blame because he managed to hold off the unbeatable filly and won four of his five career starts in the 2010 racing season. On the other hand,
those who said that they voted for Zenyatta were of the view that she was the most flaunted racehorse of the industry and was flaunted and admired by her fans for her class and talent. They also said that she was successful in winning five of her six career
starts in the year 2010.
Nominations in the other categories of the Eclipse Award include the names of Awesime Feather and Big Drama. The former racehorse began its racing career at Calder Casino, while the latter at Race Course.
Awesome has been announced the finalist of the 2-Year-Old filly award category, for she claimed all six of her races in the year 2010. Her career starts last year also includes the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Filly stakes that took place on the 5th
of November.
