Horse Racing world bids adieu to Rajik – Horse Racing news
The horse racing world had to say farewell to one of its most well loved horses on Wednesday. Rajik was put to death after the horse had undergone injury.
The meet that the horse was participating in was the Sagaro Stakes. This horse racing event took place at Ascot.
The nature of the injury which Rajik suffered was serious and was sustained on the leg. After the horse was examined, there turned out to be no other option except to end his life. Rajik has passed away at the age of six.
Charlie Swan, who was the trainer of the horse, expressed grief over the loss of Rajik. According to Swan, Rajik was in a good physical condition and showed a vast capacity for improvement. The horse was capable of undergoing vigorous training exercises
in order to perform at his potential. This is shown by the fact that Rajik showed considerable improvement from his last year’s performance, as Swan stated on Thursday morning.
“Sadly, he split his off-fore [front right] pastern very badly. It went into the joint at the top and the bottom end and the vet advised us that his racing days were over and that he was going to be in a lot of pain. So on humane grounds he had to be put
down,” added Swan.
In his glorious and eventful career which has sadly reached a premature end, Rajik was able to secure himself the honour of being the winner of six race events. Out of these six wins that the horse was able to bag, two of them were achieved in Listed events.
Rajik is best known for a performance that he put up while competing in the Irish Field St Leger. The race event took place in the month of September and the venue of the meet was the Curragh. Despite the fact that Rajik was not able to finish in the first
position, he was still able to get the fourth one.
Rajik was owned by the Rathcoffey Racing Syndicate. The horse has the famous name of Kalanisi attached to him. Kalanisi has the credit of fathering Rajik.
