  1. They a a piece of steel shaped in a U that is nailed to the hooves of horses. They are put there to protect the horses' hooves from rocks and sharp things.

  2. horse shoes are those steel thingys that are "laced" on the foot with hores shoe nails.  Socks are the white hair above the hoof but below the ankle stockings go to the  knee or hock

  3. You can get boots for a horse.

  4. Horse shoes are U shaped metal that is nailed on to the bottom of a horses feet. It does not hurt the horse at all because the part of the hoof that is nailed is a lot like a fingernail on a person. Shoes are put on domestic horses to help there feet deal with the extra strain of carrying the weight of a rider. There is no such thing as horse socks, but there are horse boots. They are basically rubber boots that pad a horses hooves like a horse shoe, but they are easily

removed, and can be put back on. Horse shoes how ever have to be taken off and the hoof trimmed, and new shoes put on about every 6 to 10 weeks.

If you ever hear of horse socks they are referring to a color pattern on a horse. Usually it is on a horse any color other than white. The socks are white hair that extend from the hoof up the leg but usually end prior to the knee.

  5. No socks.

A horseshoe is a U-shaped item made of metal or of modern synthetic materials, nailed or glued to the hooves of horses and some other draught animals. Like a shoe on a human, it is used to protect the animal's feet from wear and tear. Professional horseshoers, called farriers, usually place horseshoes on the solar (outer) surface of the hoof by nailing through the insensitive hoof wall, which is analogous anatomically to the human toenail, though much larger and thicker.

Horseshoes are available in a wide variety of materials and styles, developed for different types of horses and the work they do. The most common materials are steel and aluminium, but specialized shoes may include use of rubber, plastic, magnesium, titanium or copper.  Steel tends to be preferred in sports where a strong, long-wearing shoe is needed, such as polo, eventing, show jumping, and western riding events. Aluminum shoes are lighter, making them common in horse racing, where a lighter shoe is desired; and often facilitate certain types of desired movement, and so are favored in the discipline of dressage.  Some horseshoes have "caulkins", "caulks", or "calks": protrusions at the toe and/or heels of the shoe, to provide additional traction.
