I am going to a horse show in Sept. with my trainer so a little comfort, Only starting to ride with her in August. Just moved to VA with my mare who is being shipped the 27th of this month. I need a list of things for both horse and rider. I have alot of stuff from home shows up at my old barn but can you give me help with what all I need. I dont have alot of money to go out and buy stuff for this season it ends in October, but would like a list so durring the winter I can get everything because next year I want to show for points at our local schooling show..

  1. *Your showing clothes- depends on what style of riding you do

*All of your tack  including an extra bridle if possible

    *Fly spray and tack cleaner

*anything that your horse might need

    *Confidence

I wish you luck and its hard to say what you need becasue it varies with different people but have fun and good luck!

  2. Okay, we've got the clothing and tack covered from your previous question...

For your horse, you need (additional to tack you'll show in):

Spare baby pad for schooling (you only show in the fleece half-pad that's shaped like the saddle)

    Polo wraps just for showing

If your horse wears bell boots, those need to be off while showing

You can't use a martingale on the flat, only over fences

Trailer to get there and back, and to put your horse in if there's a long time between classes

    Water bucket

    Sponge

Shampoo if you get stuck with another bath in the morning because your horse pooped on itself in the trailer

    Sweat scraper/squeegee

    Shipping boots/wraps

    Fly Spray

    Horse First Aid Kit

    Human First Aid Kit

    Hay, hay net

Grain (in case she won't get back in the trailer)

Treats (for you and your horse, as well as drinks for both of you)

    Brushes

    Hoofpick

Electrolytes to make your horse stay hydrated

    Longe line

    Longe Whip

A Helper (as in support, assistance, advice)

Oh yeah, you can't use that sparkly purple crop. But don't worry if you take your time getting a pokey horse into a trot if you can't use a crop, since it sounds like she does get moving without it.

If you can get your trainer to come with you, that would be great, because it's more than likely they have a trailer you can use, and you won't have to buy half the stuff listed above that most horse owners have, just borrow them.
