  1. not exactly horse trouble......but anyways...

similar problem with my mare except ive been doing this for a while.  you don't just start runnin around barrels until the horse turns, you shouldn't even be on barrels right now.  sorry if i sound rude, but that's how it is, i hate it too.  you need to bend your horse to the left and right often when you ride, especially in warming up.  practice figure at patterns at the walk, WITHOUT barrels, and use bending exercises to get a better turn.  it sucks, but you shouldnt ever run a whole pattern except during competition.  if you do it enough, it becomes boring and the horse doesn't want to do it anymore.  also never do it at a full run unless in an actual race.  look on amazon or ebay for some barrel racing books, there are a lot of good ones out there.  good luck!

  2. Look into Sharon Camarillo's book on Barrel Racing, and Clinton Andersons DVD's with Sheri Cervi on barrel racing horses and training.  Getting the bend and rate is the first thing to work on.  Speed is the last.  You're training in the wrong order.
