My horse had recently started nodding his head violently and all the time, he's also sneezing alot, it's as if he has hay fever or something. It's currently winter at the moment, so theres not alot of pollen around.. so i'm not sure what could be the reason.. has anybody else had this problem? What's the solution? could it be in his diet?

  1. He must have something in his respiratory tract...it could be something he's breathing in in the barn, or it could be something that is lodged in there that peridically irritates him again.  I think a vet visit is a good idea.

  2. If i was you, i would go to the vet

  3. Could be the horse has something up his nose.  Call the vet - it sounds like your horse is miserable

  4. he hates u sry

  5. Think back to when it started...did you change hay or where you were getting it?  feed?  bedding?  fly spray or any other product that you might be using on your horse...something different in your barn. He could be developing some type of mass, (growth) in his throat.  Obviously, a visit from the vet is in order, but for now, I would try soaking or at least sprinkling down his hay and maybe even feeding a wet mash and see if it makes any difference...that way, you can share this information with the vet and it will help him in his diagnosis.

  6. Call your vet..........that would be more logical than asking people on yahoo

  7. He could have something caught in his nose, throat or lungs.

No matter the season, it could still be allergies... or maybe a cold?

Need to see a vet ASAP! Better Safe Than Sorry!

  8. Ask a vet.

  9. First of all, where are you from for it to be Winter? I am in Ohio and it's 95 degrees...(haha)

it could be many things, ask your vet about moon blindness

  10. Would you like some Tylenol ?

  11. it sounds like he could be developing head shaking syndrome, but you should have a vet look at him cause it could also be an allergy thing. It doesn't have to be too pollen, he could have developed a dust allergy and is reacting to that.

  12. Obviously your horse is distressed and trying to rid himself of an irritant.  Perhaps he's inhaled some foreign object and is trying to dislodge it.  Call the vet.
