now if u knew me or asked someone i knew. and said. does she like horses. everyone would say she is the biggest horse lover i no! i love them dearly. having owned and schooled many. i recently saw a video on youtube. something about horse slaughter. sayin it was wrong ect..... and i was thinking.. these horses that go to slaughter would be worse off if they didnt.*with bad owners...bad enviroment* and they get slaughtered for meat, like pigs, chickens, cows ect... if u feed your cats or dogs tinned food that has horse in it. and my dog loves it. now my question.. if the horses that went for slaughter got travelled in a better way ..*ie.proper trailers and were confortable* what is wrong with it? its just like any other meat we eat. what do other askers think??

They only vote for the No Kill ..Huh

  2. funny

  3. The answer is "It is what it is". If your speaking of racehorses, don't tell me that any punter gives a **** about what happens to a horse after it's useful life on the track is over. It's a business, and if a race horse, who was born and bred to race, can't cut it................... Cruel, probably, however, unlike PETA will tell you, animals do not have the brain capacity of a human, therefore, you must never try to "humanize" an animal when thinking about such things. Sad, yes, but as I said "it is what it is". Nobody likes horse slaughter, however, as you stated, would you rather have a live horse being neglected?

  4. I have been saying the same thing all along

Its better then having them Starve slowly etc and some horses are ruined by humans and some can't be saved

There is a need for Slaughter houses  Where are all those horses going to go ?

I feel if someone says STOP KILLING HORSES !!THEN THEY SHOULD FEED THEM .

  5. thats terrible Animal Cruelty should stop

  6. i ate horse in japan. i loved it. don't listen to all of the carpet munching vegitarians, as long as its not people we can eat it.

  7. Thats the same as asking why are dogs & cats skinned for there fur &

people eat them & yes its true.

  8. The reason that slaughtering horses is more taboo than other animals is because people have more interaction with horses.  When you see pigs or cows or whatever, you see them standing around in the field... their whole purpose (in our minds at least) is to get eaten.  But we don't eat horses in this country and we use horses for a lot of things.  There's horse shows, horses can be farm animals to do work on farms, horses are pets, horses are talented creatures that we can see on tv in races or in the olympics.  So when we think of horse slaughter, it's a bit more stunning than thinking about other animal slaughter.

To me, what you're saying sounds reasonable.  If the horses are well cared for during their lives and there's some kind of a pain-free way to kill them, then slaughter wouldn't be so bad.  The problem is that with any animal slaughter, they're not particularly well cared for up to their deaths.  Most horses going to slaughter are filthy, possibly in pain from some injuries they acquired (maybe the reason they're being sent to slaughter), they're skinny because they weren't properly fed (why put money into an animal you're just about to kill), they're scared and treated badly on the way to the slaughter house and the way they're transported into the slaughterhouse isn't very kind (packed into trucks, then forced to walk into the building on a small path... people don't take them by halter and lead rope into the building)... and you can bet that they're scared because horses know what is happening to the horses in front of them in the line.

If slaughter wasn't done inhumanely, it would be alright, but it's not.  Unfortunately, you can't give a horse an injection to kill them because it taints the meat, so the only ways to slaughter a horse are not pain-free.

I don't like that there's horse slaughter and I'm unhappy to think about the concept, but I understand that it is necessary.  There are too many horses for all of them to have healthy happy homes in the world.  It's a necessary evil.  I don't like it, but it's something that has to happen.  Like any other animal, we shouldn't be slaughtering to the point of extinction... the slaughtering of the Mustang was really stupid... it was just to wipe out an entire breed.  Every breed has a place and using slaughter that way was wrong.  But slaughter does have a place in the world unfortunately.

  9. well Im a big horse lover! If the horse was treated nicely and had a comfortable life up until the slaughter (and killed humanly) i guess its kinda ok - dogs and cats have gotta eat!it wld only be a duck, rabbit or a chicken otherwise!
