  1. I have this problem with my horse to...buh the things we have tried which may work for you are

    - Wet the area with a sponge

    - Shave it

    - Possibley(sp?) if you have any hint of his name then you could look him up in the studbook.

  2. Get a someone to look at it like a vet or someone. Or even a brander, but anyway if he has a brand he either was wild or rescued

  3. Maybe you could take a close up picture of it and send it to AQHA for their help.

  4. If your stallion is a reg horse and has a reg number...the registry will have a record of it...get in touch with the AQHA they can find out the information that you are looking for

  5. Can you clip the hair away and see better? I have never had a horse with a fire brand before - just freeze brand and his is more clear when the hair is short.

  6. I would shave him over the area to try to read it easier.  Then call the brand inspector out.

But did AQHA hot brand or freeze brand?  That I don't know.

  7. I agree with wetting it or shaving it. There are a lot of horses with "back yard" brands that are untraceable. If it is just numbers, you probably won't be able to trace the brand to a specific owner. We have one right now with a huge 913 across his butt. If it is a design/farm brand, they are registered with certain government officals. They are much easier to figure out. You can also get a picture of it and post it on different horse classified sites asking for info on the horse. That has worked really well for me. Hope this helps you.
