  1. I think that the horse capital of the U.S. is in Maryland. Go Preakness !

  2. Kentucky!

    the derby man!

  3. I just moved to Ocala and had a question also about the "Horse Capitol of the World" claim. According to the Marion County/Ocala Chamber of Commerce site this is one qualifying reason: It is based on a 5 year census by the US Dept. of Agriculture which in 1999 agreed that Ocala/Marion County led all other US counties in the total of horses and ponies. So I guess the next question is what did the 2007 census say as to that?

  4. Louisville, KY.  It doesn't get better than the Derby.  There are places where it is a bigger part of the culture (Lexington, KY), but the spires at Chruchill are still king.

  5. i honestly think it's texas but if not lexington.

  6. Lexington, Kentucky.  Home of the Durby.  (Not a fan, to much abuse of the horses).

  7. Lexington,Kentucky is the horse capital of the world.

  8. i agree it lexington

  9. Actually, it is Purcell, Oklahoma.  There's a sign on I-35 that states that fact and it has been there for the 30 years I have been driving that stretch of Hwy.  Oklahoma has more World and National Championships than any other state and we also produce a great number of winners in both the show arena and on the track.

"Race horse" capital could arguably be Kentucky. There are more racing champs from those farms than any other in the US, sure.   I've never thought of Florida having any title except "Crime Capital".

  10. Kentucky. Where they got the fast women, & all the beautiful

    horses. <}:-})

  11. race horse capitol maybe

  12. I'm going to have to say Lexington, although there are a ton of farms and great horses/trainers in Oscala.

  13. Los Angeles! Believe it or not. There are 3 racetracks. Santa Anita, Los Alamitos, and Hollywood Park. Del Mar is just an hour drive south.

  14. lexington, ky  i love the horse park

  15. i think it might be maryland or maybe kentucky because thats where they have the derby

  16. Lexington, Kentucky is the horse capital of the USA.  It is a lifestyle, a part of the culture and community.  It is a beautiful area (as u well know!) and the place where the best horses in the world are shown and admired, the champions even come here to retire!

  17. I think Ocala FL has some really good horses, racing, training grounds, & climate conditions. There are definitely some well renowned vets in both locations.  My opinion is both Lex. KY & Ocala have similar merit & can complement one another rather that compete for a worth of capital! There must be a possible site to find registration populations in either area. Are you referring to breed population numbers, monies provide for race purses, or; in specific general equine ownership in a precise location as a value for the title of capital. You are probably partical to Lex. due to your desclosure of being born there.

  18. Have you ever been to Ocala?

I have lived in Lexington currently live in Ocala. I see more going on with horses here in Ocala then I did while in Lexington.

Lexington has more horse farms and Churchill Downs is right down the way so you hear more about horses. Horses are a bigger part of everyday life in Lexington.

Ocala has large horse farms, training facilities and more horses moved through the area each year.

Either way both locations are rich in history and great places to live.

  19. Actually, by recent consensus, Ramona California. they have the most horses per capital in the U.S.A. making them the horse capital

  20. I am from Kentucky and it is most defininately Kentucky. What a beautiful place
