  1. Yes

Something else insulting: Calling pro golfers Athletes. . .  rowff

  2. What is crazy is that table tennis (ping pong) and badmitten are Olympic sports.  And trampoline gymnastics.

  3. yeah he's an A** Hole  um i said that and i think i might get reported so yeah i hate ppl like that

    i just reported him

  4. Apparently this kid just wanted to cause a stir.  Once you pointed out the question, it got deleted so I didn't get to read it...:(

Some people just like to watch the fur fly.  I normally TRY very hard to ignore this trolls and just go about my business.  Once in a while, they DO get to me and I come up with a smart alec answer.  Like the time I told the little girl with 70+ horses supposedly to put her Breyers back on the shelf and pack her favorite mare in her suitcase.  ROFLOL

  5. OMG YES! i answerd his stupid question as well.

I would love to see him first of all ride, not just walk lets see him do a gallop or even a trot! and then try to gallop and jump over 5 feet!

It always insults me when people say riding is easy. Because all they mainly do is just sit on the horse and walk for about ten minutes. Try doing that for an hour and see how sore your muscles are.

Yea controlling a 1200 pound animal is as simple as walking a little dog. haha yea RIGHT!

I think that will upset every body in this section.

  6. Gina, the question you are asking about has already been deleted by the YA team- I do not know why. I agree he was insulting to everyone who rides and participates in horse sports, but this business about comparing it to NASCAR stumps me. Riding bears no more resemblance to NASCAR than playing football does. As for modern pentathalon, that sport was designed around the skills tests given to military COURIERS, NOT OFFICERS or soldiers, and apart from the jumping phase of it, it bears little or resemblence to the rest of the Equestrian sports. I'm not even sure where this year's event is even being held. The horse portion of it is theoretically in Hong Kong, but whose horses are they using for this event??

Another thing to remember, Gina, is that about 95 percent of the world's population is non riding- and the great majority of people in this group know NOTHING at all about horses, riding, or horse sports. I have heard dressage referred to by a lot of names I'm not going to repeat here, because they are so vulgar and nasty- and show jumping has been just as bad, if not worse at times. People are just prejudiced, bigotted, and ignorant, that's all, and most of them know nothing about the history of the Olympics, whether modern or ancient. Horse sports have ALWAYS been part of the Games, from the very beginning. The ancient Olympics included horse races, chariot races, dressage ( which wasn't called that then, but which existed nonetheless) and what was called the Militare. The Militare was the early forerunner of what would eventually become the modern 3 Day Event. There is also evidence that polo was part of the ancient Games too- and when horse sports were first added to the modern Games in 1912, polo was part of this- as a demonstration sport.  But try telling this to askers like "RWR" and you'll get a response similar to his question, because he's basically just an uneducated, ignorant,@ss. The world is full of such people, and the only thing you can do is ignore them and be thankful they don't make policies and rules for the Olympics and events like it.

    Enough said, I think.

  7. No Matter.  His question was deleted.

  8. I've never really ridden a horse in competitions or anything or jumped them, but I know how much hard work it takes. But I LOVE horses and I'd like to see that guy try to jump within an inch off the ground!

  9. People like that make dumb comments because they dont know how much skill it really takes to do it....

...Hes probably some couch potato that sits an watches TV and plays on his computer all day...probably jealous that hes not an athlete LOL.

People like this dont even deserve an intelligent response from any self respecting Horse Person.

An your right, it is a Lack of Respect for the Athletes that are there competing in the Equestrian Games in Bejing

  10. People like this don't really and truly understand what riding really is.  It takes years and years to condition and train a horse and rider to do the things they do in the olympics.  The horses in the olympics are on the verge of explosion basically, and there has to be one h**l of a rider up there or the horse might take his/her head off.  In riding, we are dealing with an animal twice as big as us and could do anything any anytime.  People have DIED riding horses!  Just by accident too; they weren't doing something stupid, the horse just didn't quite make it over the fence properly and fell on the rider.  Who knows anyone who has died playing baseball?  This guy needs to get real!  People who ride horses are freaking strong too, so I don't know where this guy is coming from.  I'd rather pick a fight with a baseball player than a horse rider.  Riders (like the professionals) deal with crazy *** horses on crack, they'd break your neck in a heart beat!  Other sports live the good life, if you make it to the professional league of some other sport you get paid a fortune and have these sweet houses and all.  Riders...well, we're lucky to get anything besides a broken collarbone and a black eye.  Here's one: how do you make a small fortune in horses?  Start with a big one!!!  Jeez!  It's like, try living with horses your whole life, here's what you can do.  You can wake up at the butt crack of dawn everyday to feed horses, ride horses all day and sweat your brains out (and in the winter, freeze your *** off.  Barns are not heated, and if they are, you won't feel much of a difference.), and go to bed about the time you get up agian.  It's not what everyone thinks it is.  Riders are not rich and live on huge estates (I wish...), they work so hard and get so little in return from the general public.  This guy doesn't understand what it is like to ride a horse and experience it like riders do.  We have to go through so much more than other sports, we have to pay for the horses' vet and farrier bills.  Have they ever sent the vet's kids to college?  Didn't think so.  What is ever worse is that sometimes things don't always go as planned, horses get hurt, and if worst comes to worst, have to be put down.  A lot of people have had the death of a dog or cat or something, but have never truley felt the heartbreak of having to let something you put your heart and soul into go.  Riding is not just a sport, but the way we chose to live.  This guy needs a good kick in the ***.

  11. totally.

  12. Maybe they need a riding lesson?

  13. It doesn't insult me, I just consider the source.

  14. He ia clearly a JACKA$S!!!!  & That is what I told him!!!! He would NOT be able to keep up on a hour good ride!!! Just show how ignorant some people really are!!!!!!!!

    *********EDIT*******

    Question was deleted.

  15. It doesn't insult me exactly because they just do not know what they are talking about.  It is like if someone asked me what I thought about football...I do not know the sport and I only can make assumptions from what I see...So to me, football is just a bunch of Neanderthal-type men running around and jumping on each other while wearing too-tight pants. To an outsider, horse riding does look a person is just sitting on a horse.  Dressage looks easy and jumping is just keeping balanced in their eyes.  They cannot see the challenges and physical taxations because they have never felt them and do not see how they would occur all while sitting down.  They do not know that you have to keep leg pressure on the horse and control it with something other than yanking its head with your reins.  All they see are the cowboys in the movies with their bouncing legs and messy hands.  So, no, people like this do not insult me.  They make me want to force them to take a few riding lessons, but they do not insult me.

  16. OMG. ive been riding for 5 years. id like to see them get on a horse and do what i do almost everyday. Then id like to hear what he says.

  17. some people are sooo ignorant.  no one really knows what we go through until they actually try it.  and just a trail ride doesn't count!  i mean like hard core horseback riding!

  18. That reminds me of this question ... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

I spent all that time writing out a huge answer and was factual and rational and that idiot picked a different answer because it agreed with him. Idiots.

  19. alot of people think that the horse does all the work and don't realize that you have to give cues on every stride. I mean honostly, do they really think that a 1000 pound animal naturally performs pirouttes(sorry i don't know how to spell that) and piaffes. Pushing sround a heavy animal with mainly your legs is not an easy task.

  20. I like the old saying, "I'm not going to dignify that with a response".

He can believe whatever he wants to....let's not honor this person's beliefs by giving our time and energy to responding to it.

  21. YES honestly. I don't know why people assum that controlling a 1000lb animal is easy

  22. Ya it frustrates me. And sometimes I wish I could just scream at them. But they're not worth my time. The only purpose of their comment is to get me all upset, so why am I going to give them that pleasure.

And don't try reasoning with them. They're really not say "hey, please explain to me why equestrian is in the Olympics. I really don't understand." They're actually saying "How many people can I p**s off at once?"

Don't bother with them. There are plenty of people who do respect what we do.

  23. Wow! I don't think he realizes how hard riding actually is. There is a reason alot of people get aches and pains after their first couple times riding. I did a project on horse back riding and how it physically effects the rider and i believe (if i remember correctly) you burn as much calories schooling a horse for an hour as if you were to full out jog for 1/2 hour. Horse back riders build so much strength riding!

  24. That is a troll. They are trying to p**s you off. And you are letting them thus giving them exactly what they want.

  25. i reported them because I think that's terrible

EDIT: and I'm glad I did because the question is now gone!

i guess we can return to "jumping over sticks" happily

  26. Right as I was ready to post my answer with a good and witty answer it got deleted!!!

Oh well... It doesn't matter what everyone else thinks, we know how much work it takes to do what we do.

  27. Someone needs to show that guy a day in the life of a horse person.

  28. Its just someone trying to start a problem, like on all forums. I recalled a person on a different horse forum stating that all horseback riders are slackers and too lazy to do their own work. All it is is someone trying to create a ruckus, people who have nothing better to do than start internet arguements and getting a kick at putting other people down.

  29. They dont know anything that riders do! It's not easy but its something we ALL have a passion for. I mean come on give us some respect.

WHatever  idiots like that don't even deserve the trouble. LEt them think what they want but I would love to see them try and control a 1000+lb animal!!!

  30. It insults me and probably the whole horse community. I answered his question, could have gone off on him but I kept it together and justified my answers. People who have never rode don't realise how difficult it really is. Arghh, I can't even begin to explain how much this frustrates me. Also, another thing which annoys me is that people think everybody who horse-rides or owns a horse is rich/stuck-up. Sooo not the case. Mehh, we try don't we?

  31. These kinds of things are the reason that I like horses more than I like people.
