  1. I also have a Thoroughbred with a tendency to crib. Often, this habit is started out of of stress and boredom. Usually, once the habit is started it is extermely hard and often impossible to break. I can still give you some tips, but I cannot guarantee that your mare will stop cribbing. First of all, if you have a regualar, one-strap cribbing collar, try using the Miracle Collar. It works on my horse, but he is only a light cribber. Also, make sure your horse is turned out fequently, and has constant hay when she is in her stall. This will not only help keep weight on, but it will keep her from becoming bored and cribbing. You can also try giving her some sort of horsey toy for when she is in her stall, such as a Likit or a Jolly ball. These will also keep her from becoming bored. If your horse cribs on the paddock fence when turned out, ask if you can paint the fence line with a bad tasting clear varnish that you can buy specificly for cribbers at your local tack shop. This can also be used in her stall on objects she likes to crib on. Make sure you pay plenty of attention to her daily, too, because she may become bored or anxious if she is lonely. Good luck!

  2. It sounds to me that this horse is very stressed about something. Is she with other horses?? Is she out on pasture or in a stall all day?? I mean, I really can not say much because I do not know all the details. Has she been like this for awhile or been like this all the time!! The cribbing strap should work, maybe it is too lose. When they start to crib the strap should stop her from doing this. Have you talked to your vet about this!!

  3. Sounds like she is stressed or bored. Is she in her stall a lot? Does she spend time with other horses? Maybe she is stressed about something.

  4. there could be something bothering her. you should just keep a close eye on her, and watch the foods she eats. that may be something as well
