  1. im not sure ask your vet or trainer or someone with more experience

  2. Well it sounds like you are changing your feed an awful lot.  When you do change feed for what ever reason it should be done slowly, over a months time ideally.

There are so many factors that you need to know before determining a feed.  Weight, what they are doing, what you want the feed to do, and age.  Each horse may have different needs and probably need different amounts of feed..

Another factor is weighing the feed.  Each scoop of feed is going to have different nutrition verses another scoop of feed.

You mention omolene 200 and horse chow 100.  Omolene is a sweet feed that will give you a horse with more energy.  Horse chow is a complete feed that is in a pellet form.  With feeds there is good, better, and best as far as ingredients.  Good is your basic bare minimum in standards and quality.  Horse chow is one of them.  BUT, if you fed a high quality premium horse feed you would save money.  For example your horse needs 14 pounds of horse chow or 11 pounds of premium.  The bag will cost more but you're feeding less.  Keep that in mind when choosing a feed.

Mixing the feeds that you mentioned will be fine but why do you want to spend all that money on feed?

From what you told me it sounds like you want to put weight and maintain weight on the two horses and give them some extra energy.  Assuming both horses are healthy and do not have any special medical concerns I would reccomend Equine Adult and top dressing it with amplify.  Both are by Purina.  Just remember to follow the feed chart on the back of the bag and weight out the feed.

If you want more information or for me to reccomend how much of what or a more detailed feeding program you can email me directly.  wendyrigel@yahoo.com
