Question:

Horse freeze marks-- 2 digits??

A horse that I care for used to be a Amish carriage horse, from what the owner has told me they sold him because he wasn't fast enough. He has two freeze marks on his right front leg, a letter then a number, so a total of only two digits. The sites that you can search them up almost always call for 4 digits?

Don't remember exactly what the number/letter was, I'll have to check, but where could I look this up, and would it tell me more about his history?

Example of the freeze mark: E1 ---that's all that i can see.

THANKS.

  1. My mare has freeze marks under her mane.  They were there when I received her.  They are also on her paperwork that I received.  This is an identification mark, or proof of ownership just in case they are stolen or lost.  I am not sure that you can look up this marks.  Although I haven't tried.
