Question:

Horse hunting.?

I live in the South East of England and am looking for a 15.2 horse from £2500-£3500. I want something good quality and genuine but not over priced. Does anyone have any experience of reliable horse traders/ dealers that would sell me something in that price range? It seems that most places will only go as low as £4000!

Remember I am in the south east and only 16 so cannot expect my parents to drive to the other side of England.

Many thanks!

  1. Can't you pick one up from a rescue centre?  That would be best ethically wouldn't it?

Here's a good site explaining costs etc that you would be expected to pay:

  2. Try the Pony Club website www.pcuk.org "classified" section

  3. try www.horsemart.com

  6. I live in America so no help here re: local horse sales HOWEVER, why not consider "renting" a horse or exercising someone else's as I am sure there are lots of ppl who have horses but no time to train/ride them.  I am sure lots of folks would appreciate a teen coming in on a regular basis.  You could then save $ towards the purchase of a REALLY great horse when you can afford it and drive yourself.

  7. Hi try these links:

    http://www.horsemart.co.uk/web/DisplayRe...

    http://www.thehorseexchange.com/search_e...

    http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/marketpla...

There are some cracking horses in thet bunch, loads to choose from!

Good Luck, lets us know how you get on =)

  8. I do find some horse dealers (not all) quite unreliable from friends experiences. i suggest a genuine website like HorseQuest which also has adverts from horse dealers so i suggest a good browse round there.

i wish the best for your horse hunting :P

  9. Try a local riding stables. Usually there is horses for sale there, I brought both of my horses from riding schools!

You could have a lesson with a riding school and try out some horses, then ask a helper at the stables to tell you what the horse is like to handle etc. so you don't end up getting a moody horse!

    Hope this helps!!!!

  10. You haven't said what you intend to do with the horse or your level of experience but I know of a very good reputable trader who sells retrained racehorses.  The website is www.thoroughbredselections.co.uk and they are based in Chipstead, Surrey
