1. now razzle you know why your horse is lame, you last question was about lameness now you know why your horse is lame, don't jump a lame horse

  2. We used to make brush jumps, from gathering brush in the forest and kind piling it up.

Get big flower pots and fake flowers from the dollar store. Put some soil or sand or whatever in the pots and put the flowers in.

  3. dont know what there called but they have them on the sides of the road fot making make shift lanes when there doing road works?? there nmot cones there about 3 foot high i would say and made of plastic they are normally red or white.. sorry if i have lost you!! any ways if you see any you could 'borrow' a few they often leave old ones at the sides of the roads..but thats in ireland..!!

or else use 2 big round bales with a plank of would or something wedged in between them

tree trunks , branches , telephone posts for some reason we have two in our fields there long enug to chop in two..

theres loads of sites for DIY jumps online..

    aah tryin to think

hammer, nails, lots of wood and a saturday afternoon of with nothing to do... you could end up with some fab jumps!!

    HaY baLeS!!!

a plank of wood with tyres threaded on to it

    hope (some!) of this helps!!!

Gud Luck and just jump anything that looks half way safe (and fun!!)

  4. you can just make them taller than it says to

  5. Well my Dad made these at work, it's basically two tall wooden poles each with a stand, to keep them stood up. Then drill holes through at regular intervals of about a couple of inches. Then buy something like this

    http://images.robinsons-uk.com/product_i...

from your local tack shop/saddlery for your jump cups. Then a round wooden pole or two and hey-presto, a home made jump!!

That's sort of what my jump stand looked like, only that they were wooden and the height was determined through hole height, rather than by sliding it to the correct height and securing it.

I also understand these may be to complicated for you to make, as I said, my Dad made them at work

  6. Hi!

You can change the equipment you have by adding feed sacks that flutter in the wind, paint the barrels and tyres in really bright colours, find some sawn-off branches from the woods and stick them in a trough filled with damp sand.

You can simulate a waterjump with blue plastic sheeting from the DIY shop held down on take-off and landing sides by poles.

get your Dad or someone to make stacking caveletti from "X's" of 4" x 4" wood and fencepoles. (these work well in training also when narrow - makes your horse think)

    good luck and happy jumping.

  7. old bales piled up, get branches. milk crates are fab, traffic cones. the red and white road barriers are good! any old wood? i made a fab jump out of an old bedframe, head to your local tip!

  8. hay bales make good jumps. my dad used old wood to make jump wings and put holes in it every 10cm so i can have it at any height between 30 and 150cm

for poles, i use long branches trimmed from trees round one of our fields, with all the twigs and bits pointing out cut off.

palettes set upright are another option.

just look around and see if you can find anything high enough to use as a wing then put poles on it.

  9. All I can suggest is to buy real ones now.

I had a look on ebay and there are some for sale.

    7 proper jumps £499:00.

If too expensive worth keep looking on there. Good luck. Terry.

  10. Milk crates - stack them and use them as wings or pole supports.

fencing rails - as poles supported on the crates

traffic cones - line them up as fillers, make them part of the wings

Get enough crates and you can make spreads etc. Also they stack very well and are light weight for moving around.

I wouldn't suggest using them to make a wall though as they lock together a bit too well for that and some have sharp bits on the locks.

Edit> I have also used the road closed things that someone else mentioned ( some kind soul threw a load into our field so we thought "waste no, want not "!)

Have also used a garden bench and chairs, tyres, pvc pipes etc. Do not use plastic guttering - it's too brittle and sharp ( the pipe I used was green and about 5 inches in diameter - the stuff they used to install the BB cables with)

  11. Yea!

    Buckets!

    I buy these buckets...

And to make the jumps higher i just stick another bucket securely onto the other buckets. Then buy planks of wood or flooring.

I know it sounds c**p but it works! =]

Also for a cheapish option what about this...

A couple of jump blocks and a couple of poles.

    Blocks: http://www.robinsons-uk.com/products/Pro...

    Poles: http://www.robinsons-uk.com/products/Pro...

Also you can hire jumps and jump over farmers fences. Go to the local dump and see what you can find!

  12. Build it out of wood!

    Hay bales

    Things around the barn!

  13. I use hay bayles

or build them up out of fallen branches or bushes

go out into the country and jump fallen trees and gates so thats a good idea

  14. You could get some long garden plant troughs and put them in a long line then put soil and wild foliage (that you can get free from the countryside) in them to the height you want, you can change the height whenever you want then.

  15. I would suggest picking up some 2x4s. You can use cement blocks to hold them up. Both 2x4s and cement blocks are fairly cheap at hardware or builders supply stores.
