  1. Well, it depends. Some stables will charge you a certain rate per month (like board- something like $600 a month). It also depends on if it is a full lease or a half lease. If it is full lease, then generally it is the person leasing the horse's responsibility to pay all of the horse's bills- board, vet, farrier, deworming, etc. It's basically like owning a horse financially without your name on the horse's papers. If it's a half lease, sometimes you will split the cost of care with the owner. Really it depends on the terms of the individual lease agreement. Some are lease to own, like mine. I basically got my horse for free. She technically isn't owned by me until April 2009, but she is my horse to do whatever I want with and to take wherever I want. Many leases will be on site only, meaning that the person leasing the horse is not allowed to remove the horse from the premises (With the exception of a horse show etc.) But basically, the cost depends on what it's costing the owner.

  2. 250 but ask arround go to a tack shop and there will be flyers for leases most likley and if not ask a person in the shop

  3. I half lease a horse for $150/month. This means 3 days out of the week he is mine, and then I also get to use him in my lesson (so, 3 1/2 days sort of).

A full lease at the barn would be $300/month, which means you basically get the horse whenever you'd like.

It differs between owners and barns. I lease him from a barn, not a particular person (but I suppose you could say that I lease him from the barn owner, although he is not her horse-he is a schooling horse used by the barn, I am the only person leasing him). Some places it is more expensive, and others it may be less expensive. Some places require you to have your own tack for the horse, and others will supply the tack (I use the barn's tack for him). Also, what you can do with the horse differs as well-some barns only allow x-ammount of days with the horse, some barns allow you to take the horse to show, others don't, etc.

    It allll depends.

  4. It ALL depends. What horse, what area, the owners, etc.

Around here, I would have been able to lease a horse for about $170 a month, plus vet, farrier, tack, etc.

  5. It really depends on how much riding your looking to do. There is basically two types of leases. Full and half. Full is basically you can ride as much as you want. But you also pay board/feed/farrier/vet and all that stuff. Of course there are different scenarios. A friend of mine pays 400 a month to ride as much as she wants, but she doesn't pay for anything of that. It really depends on the person your leasing from. A half lease you'll probably be able to ride 2-4 times a week. Depending on who your leasing from. In most half leases you don't pay for anything else. I currently half-lease a horse. I pay 200 a month plus shoeing whenever she needs it. I can basically ride as much as I want though, because I help with barn work. Some people will give you a discount or be more lenient with how much you pay, or offer more riding time if you offer to help out around the barn. It honestly just depends on who your leasing from.

  6. At my stable it costs $85 per month to rough board them (get the horse and keep them in the pasture) and $250 per month if you keep them in a stall (comes with everything except horse treats and everything you add to their grain)

  7. Typically a lease is about $150 a month for an average stock horse.  If you get a very high quality show horse it may be more.  That's a pretty  normal rate for a broke horse.  Leasing is usually done at the owner's premisis/boarding facility.  You may be limited on the # of rides you can have in a week or the time of day.  Some times you can do a half lease and share it with someone.  Most leases you're not responsible for farrier/vet care or boarding costs - but, if you were to get into a lease where you took the horse off premesis you would be responsible for farrier/vet/board costs.  There are usually several horses listed on craigslist for lease - but know that these are usually be individuals and not facilities that do it for a living.  It may be less expensive - but you may not have nearly as broke of a horse (they may be trying to use you to just get their horse more broke).  You can also call around to local riding facilities and see if they have any horses for lease - or they'll atleast know where to call.  I also would suggest that you lease a horse from somewhere that riding lessons are available and maybe even built into the lease.  You can also go on www.dreamhorse.com and specifically search for a "horse for lease" as one of the search criteria (also enter the area where you live).  Best wishes!

  8. It all depends on the horse the area and the owner

most of them want you to pay vet boarding farrier etc and most of them make you pay for your own tack

    I would say $300-600 a month?????? mind you that's just a guesstemation

i have never leased a horse but i own 6

  9. It all depends where you live and what horse your trying to lease...... with board and horses lease it shouldn't cost more than $350-$450 a month

  10. You carnt just read a book then say yeah i want to lease a horse, to answer your question it depends on the person!
