Horse of the Year A.P. Indy to Under Caution, Now A.P. Caution announces his arrival with a win
Under Caution is by A.P. Indy, who himself was a classic race winner, and, he won 8 races earning a total of $2.9 million. Bred in Kentucky, A.P. Indy is famous for his descendants and as well as his ancestry.
A.P. Indy was sired by Triple Crown winner, Seattle Slew, became the Horse of The Year. The three year old champion colt went on to win the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes, Santa Anita Stakes, Grade 1 Hollywood Futurity, and many more in between 1991-1992, when he raced.
He achieved all this as a two year old and was trained by Neil Drysdale, who later was nominated for the Hall of Fame, and, went on to win it.
Under Caution as a two year old won at the Arlington Park. He was competing in a special weight race and defeated the likes of King Augustus, beating him by 3 ½ lengths with a distance of 1 mile.
He started his four year old career with another win, this time an allowance race beating Ama No Peak at Turfway Park. At five years old, Under Caution defeated Cool N Collective at Meadowlands. Under Caution’s life time record consisted of 31 starts and out of those he won 5 times, came second thrice, and, third four times, with lifetime earnings of $98,245.
Under Caution’s male line consists of the likes of Mine Shaft, Bernardini, who had 8 starts, and out of those he won 6 times, Rags to Riches, and many more excellent horses.
A.P. Caution is by Under Caution, and, dam Memo to Self Run registered his first win at Stockton where he covered the five furlong race in 1 minute and 21 seconds. Owned by Barbara Delma and trained by Clifford Delma , the gelding was up against 6 other horses and his mount was Abel Cedillo.
The two year old had two runs in his short career and managed to grab one and give his sire Under Caution and himself, the first win of his career.
It remains to be seen if A.P. Caution lives up to his illustrious ancestry, which would make any horse proud. Though after grabbing a win in just his second start shows little of his ability, it will come out on the surface more when the two year old gelding runs races where he will be challenged left and right.
To show his mettle on the bigger stage he has to first get there and keep winning, or, at least stay on the card to get an opportunity to run In the those Grade one stakes, or, many other prestigious races. A.P. Caution has time and he doesn’t lack anything from his bloodline.
Will be able to live up to the standard?
