Hi I want to know what would be better, a horse or a pony?

Im 13,Im allowed to get one I have 14 acres and if that isnt enough I could but it in the local stables.

I was wondering if a pony would be safer to ride.

Also are thry easier to care for/nicer temperment?

I would be very grateful for answers. Thank you,.

  1. A horse, ponies are really mean and obnoxious. I have a horse caboshon, she's 25 years old, and to give her a break, I rode a pony. When I wanted her to trot, she would buck. When I tried to canter, she would swing her head vicously THEY'RE HORRIBLE! And most people are thinking that might of just been that one pony, but trust me when I say that most ponies are like that. I used to live on a farm for a few years.

  2. It would be best if u get a horse because when you grow up you will be able to ride him but i forgot how big is 14 acres! =>

  3. i would say a pony. sure there a little mean but sense there little you have a longer time to bond with it and watch it grow.

  4. I would also have to say a horse over a pony. While it's true that there are probably some nice ponies, overall they do seem to have more behavior problems then horses.

In addition you will soon outgrow a pony, a horse you could keep for years and years. Just make sure you get a nice gentle well trained horse for your first one.

You might want to take riding lessons on someone else's horse first to get an idea of what you like.
