What is your mobile phone of choice for the equestrian lifestyle?

I am looking for suggestions for one that will hold up to the rigors of farm life. I am hard on my phones, drop them constantly and they never last long. What do you use/recommend?

  1. well i live on a farm and i am rough on my cells to. but i get just a phone i really like. but if it is a really nice phone then i would get a case so when your in the barn you wont drop it!

  2. Verizon Chocolate!!!

  3. The enV from Verizon! It's very sturdy and last a long time! My dad gave me his that he used for six months and it didn't really have a scratch, and my dad, being a business man, tears apart phones! He had a razor and he got a new phone in less than a year he tore it up so bad, the buttons were starting to come off! But definitely get the enV, you get great service, an excellent camera, and an all-around sturdy phone!

  4. A very durable one! I

  5. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?o... (most people I ride with have this phone as its indistuctable)

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Sanyo-un... (A friend got this one it seems really rugged but the haven't had it long enough to judge properly)

  6. I used to have Nextel now "sprint" as my carrier and the i530 was good because it had a rubber coating on the outside. its used by construction workers because of what they do. it worked well i dropped it probably 5 times a day at least every day!

  7. there is never a phone that will last in the barn.... well i have the env and i broke it 3 times... soo now i have a case and i usualy leave it somewere safe when im with the horses or giving lessons cuz i cant break any more phones..... good luck

  8. OMG!!! u are just lik me!!!!!!!! well i would recomend the verizon enV! i've dropped it in water everything and its always lasted!! so i hope this helps ♥Can't Stop Riding♥

  9. I think that the magic answer is not the phone itself but what you carry it in and how you carry it...I have mine in a little case that I tie onto something...or one could hang it over their neck, tie it to belt loops, or a tie it into a pocket, just make it secure so that it does not fall out or drop easily.

  10. sprint has great "working man" type phones, but i prefer verizion, better coverage... i have the juke.. and i've stepped on it, dropped, it lost, it so many times.. there is even a crack down the screen.. hehe but i would not recommend it because it's so small and easy to set down and forget about.. i am getting a new phone since the juke is not to horse lovely.. anyways my dad has the verizion envy and it's like the ultimate "working man;s" phone.. it's big, tough, and practically invinsible..it's not that cute, and it's bulky so it depends on if you like bigger ot smaller phones...and have a way to carry the bigger cell

  11. well i would get a verzion i have a chocolate it damages easly get any phone you like but if it is in your price range get insurance

  12. I use Virgin mobile just get a cheap phone like 50 bucks and you can replace it every so often if you damage it bad enough but maybe get a case for it hold it in a bag to protect it , it will last for ever

    hope i could help

  13. DEFINITELY the G'z'One!!!!!  I've had my Belgian mare pick it up and drop it in a 100 gallon bucket, step on it, and have a horse trailer run over it!!!!  NO other phone could stand up to that!!!!

  14. Mines a Nokia N70 with a carrying strap ( which means I can attach it to my bra strap if I don't have pockets !)

It has a pretty good camera just in case I see anything worth taking pictures of.

  15. I like my LG.  It is tough and the battery lasts forever.  I have a cell phone holder that velcro's around my leg for when I'm riding.  I wear it around the barn too.  Keeps my phone from getting hung up in my pocket or knocked off my hip.  Easy to reach while riding too.

  16. Ooooh, good question.

I used to think that phones that would slip into your pocket and not be bulky were the way to go, but then I sent a few of those through the washing machine because I forgot they were in the pocket.  Duh.  So I invested in the G'zOne from Verizon because it's supposed to be very tough.  It's bulky, which is a bit annoying, and not the most attractive, but super tough.  You can bounce it around, get it wet, drop it (which I do a lot), and it seems to still work fine.  Here is some info on it:

The enV is good too I think but it's bulky too.  If you are gonna have a bulky phone, wouldn't you rather have one that is also extra tough?  I know I would.

  17. i have an LG chocolate from verizon, and i keep it in a holster on my hip when im riding. it has been dropped multiple times and i have fallen off with it on me and its still working fine!

  18. i recomend the sidekick

  19. Haha I am totally like the other girl that answered! I recomend the Verizon EnV. I have dropped mine countless numbers of times. And I have dropped it in a creek and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I absolutely love it and its perfect. The only thing is that it is kind of long, so it doesnt stay in pockets that well. But it doesnt bother me. I just stick it right in my sports bra and it stays great.

  20. We've got AT&T coverage, which means we have a SIM card inside the phone.  So when I go to the barn, I take the SIM card out of my good phone, and put it into a 5 year old cheapie (no camera phone, no IM, no frills) that's pretty battered and beaten up.  But it still works.

That way, my good phone never ends up as a barn phone.

  21. haha this doesnt really have to do with it. but i have a us cellular motorokr.

i was watering at the barn, and i realized i lost it!

it was in my back pocket and i was sitting on stall guards and putting on a horses boots. so i had to search EVERY stall. i thought it was on vibrate so i couldnt hear it. it turns out the horse must have hit a button, and i called it, and i heard it! thank god the horse was calm and didnt wreck my new phone!
