Horse periods.?

Do horses get periods. if yes do they bleed and approx. how much?

yes... but its more commonly refered to as going into heat or in heat. Mares ive known has bleed some, but not alot. they go into heat about every 21 days and show the signs of a woman's PMS attitude basically. they typically get irritated easily and can be very aggressive about it [not like attack you but very aggitated and headstrong] but ya know what they say, every horse is different. my mare you can tell when she is in heat, but ive known some that arent mare-y at all.

lol... no mares do not get periods, instead they go into heat, which involves no bleeding

I have 2 mares. They do go into heat. My horse bleeds when she goes into heat but not very much. They sometimes act up a little so I would not recommend a mare unless you are ready to handle it. Unfortunatly they cannot be fixed unless you have a MAN give them some medicine monthly. Woman can't even touch it cause it can mess you up.

No, mares go into heat, but no blood. Usually they go into heat every 21 days or so, and stay in heat for 3-7 days, which is when you would breed a mare if you choose to do so. They pee quite a bit too, and will "wink".

just like dogs..

they do give out a little bit of blood...

but not much...

they also use the bathroom ALOT!!!

they also get kinda grumpy (depending on the horse) when they go into heat...

Horses go into heat, and they don't bleed, they have a different discharge, but they will pee all the time.

Its about once a month, a little more often. They get grumpy too.

When mares go into a "heat" cycle they do not bleed. They do squat and pee a lot more in general. Some mares show no signs of heat. Sometimes you will see a whitish crust on the outer part of their v***a.
