Horse racing, Mamlook to begin chase career at Fakenham
The race horse, who took on all the challenging twists and turns in the tightest Flat racecourse in Britain in the last racing season, is now, all set to prove his spectacular talent and potential over jumps and hurdles.
The champion colt trains under the care of trainer David Pipe. The seven-year-old, Mamlook, was successful in giving his trainer his biggest Flat victory of his career when Mamlook claimed the Chester Cup that took place some eight months ago.
Mamlook’s fans and connections are pleased and delighted since he will be making his debut at the Novice Chase that is scheduled to take place at Fakenham. The event will cover a distance of 2 miles and 5 ½ furlongs.
It will be Mamlook’s first meeting after his unsuccessful performance at the Northumberland Plate in New Castle. He finished that race in the last spot out of a field of 19 competitors. The racehorse was also seen to hamper twice during the race after which
he was finally eased off by his connections.
When his trainer David Pipe was approached by correspondents regarding the condition of the racehorse, he was reported to have said that Mamlook’s connections thought it was important for him to take a break since he was having a few problems.
The duo (Pipe and Mamlook) have had some successful races together. They have run four races over hurdles that also include the colt’s victory in the Grade II handicap event that took place at the Ascot race course.
He went on to say, “A four-runner race round Fakenham can always be a bit tricky but he is in good form at home. He was a very good hurdler and a very good Flat horse and the way he schools at home I hope he will jump well”.
As for the track, David Pipe said that the ground has been revealed to be a bit softer than what is considered to be ideal ground conditions and thus they are hoping for the best possible ground for Mamlook, which he can find at the Fakenham racecourse.
The winner of the last edition of the Chester Cup was the colt Rodeo Star. He has won seven races over the fences.
