Horse racing: Life of Victory to feature in Gran Premio Internacional Carlos Pellegrini
Argentina is all set to host the Grade I Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini race on Saturday. The event will be run over a distance of 1 mile and 4 furlongs and will be contended by racehorses of age three and above.
The famed Argentine champion, Life Of Victory is the highlight feature of the Saturday meeting. If he wins this prestigious South American meeting, he will be the dual champion of the event.
The talented field of 21 best racehorses from South America is dominated by the ever-young eight-year-old Incurable Optimist. He is the limelight, mainly because of his victory in the Continent’s Signature event in the year 2008.
What makes this running of the event particularly star-studded is the fact that amongst the 21 contenders of the race, 15 of them are stakes champions. Nine of these are winners of the Grade I level races.
Life Of Victory was named as Argentina’s Horse of the Year in 2008 and for the years 2006 and 2007, he was adorned with the Champion Older Horse titles. This will be his fourth stint in the Grade I international meeting after he
was the second place finisher, three lengths behind the winner Interaction in last year’s renewal. On the other hand, the winner of Group I events, Lingote De Oro will be running in this event for the third time, while Fuego e Hierro and Send In The Clown
will be returning to the field for the second time.
Life Of Victory trains under the care of trainer Juan Carlos Etchechoury. He will be entering the Pellegrini meeting after he finished in the third place in the Group I Gran Premio Copa de Oro that took place at San Isidro. His
list of credentials reveals that he has clinched five places and victories amongst six of his career starts so far. The most prominent of his victories is the one in the 3000 metre Clasico General Pueyrredon that took place on the 13th of August
at San Isidro.
Apart from the Pellegrini, he will be running in two other Grade I International races that will be taking place at San Isidro, including the Joaquin Samuel de Anchorena (over a distance of 1600 metres) and the Felix de Alzaga
Unzue (over a distance of 1000 metres). The former race will also be featuring the champion colt Maruco Plus.
