    stick=crop of whip

    boxed in=horse has nowhere to go in a race

    Board=tote board

    Bookie=i think is a handicapper

    bug boy=apprentice jockey

    claimer, maiden, closer, dead heat, down to the wire etc

    Chalk...the favorite in a race

    stalker....a horse who likes to stay close to the lead, and wait for the home stretch to pass the others

    Closer....a horse who likes to run far back in the pack and then make one run at the leaders

    Washed out....a horse who is nervous and breaks into a foamy sweat before a race...they usually lose!

    Silks...a jockeys shirt that is decorated in the colors of the owners farm
