Horse racing fans gear up for the International Hurdle
The much talked about horse racing event this season is the nineteen-furlong International Hurdle (15:05). Despite the fact that it has a grade 2 status, the race is a cause of great excitement among horse racing fans as it will
display three of the top six contestants in the Champion Hurdle.
These are the Menorah, Cue Card and Silviniaco Conti. Menorah was the victor of the Supreme Novice and Greatwood races that took place last month. The horse currently trades at 2.92. It is speculated however, that Cue Card and
Silviniaco Conti are the bets that would show more improvement rather than Menorah. These are also the main rivals of Menorah.
Colin Tizzard, Cue Card’s trainer, is confident about the skill of his horse and does not worry much about the rival horses. It is a fact that his horse is one of the most favored in the public and has proved to be the most exciting
novice hurdler in training.
"We just don't want to mess it up," says Colin Tizzard when asked what it is like to be the trainer of Cue Card, who takes a step up in class in Cheltenham's International Hurdleon Saturday. "When you've got something like this
in the yard, as promising a young horse as there's been for a while, there's added pressure, there's no denying that. You just want to do everything right by him."
Having said that, it would be foolish if the skill of the two rivals is underestimated by either the public or the trainer. Cue Card is a formidable competitor as it is currently trading at 2.90. Similarly, Silviniaco Conti, who
won the Ascot Hurdle the previous season, is trading at 3.9. This is a much bigger price than that of the other two.
Regarding the Champion Hurdle, Tizzrad had the following comments: "So far, he looks a really good jumper and that's something that we often overlook with the top hurdlers, just how good they are at jumping."
The starter event is going to be the Vote AP Gold Cup (14:30). The two-mile-five-furlong handicap chase will have sixteen horses competing against each other. According to the timeform ratings, the event will prove to be pretty
competitive and give the spectators much excitement and thrill. Interestingly, the top and bottom rated horses will be only at a distance of 8lb from each other.
Master Minded is another horse that will display it skills in the days to come. The horse will be performing at the two-mile Tingle Creek Chase (13:55). This is the only grade 1 event taking place this time around. The meet was
rescued from Sandown, where it was supposed to be taking place initially. Master Minded is indisputably the best contestant in the race, trading at 1.91. The horse is also doing well in the timeform ratings.
However, it would be imprudent to be overconfident for the meet at Tingle Creek: “Master Minded looked somewhere near his best last time out at Ascot but there has been no shortage of punters willing to take him on in the Tingle
Creek with Somersby, Gauvain and Petit Robin all being well-supported at bigger prices.” said Totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
The story does not end with that. There are many more brilliant performers who will be making an appearance in the upcoming days. There is the Triumph Hurdle Trial (12:10), Relkeel Hurdle (13:20) and the Albert Bartlett (Bristol)
Novices' Hurdle (15:40) races, all of which are going to display top of the class horses for the pleasure of the spectators.
Horse racing fans should gear up and start saving because there will be much to win or lose in the upcoming race events.
