  2. You can name a horse after a person, providing you have their written permission, or the permission of their estate if they are dead.

Some recent examples of horses named after people are: Kate Winslet, Dan Chillingworth, Zidane, George Washington, as well as the numerous poets, composers, etc that Ballydoyle like to use (Dylan Thomas, Mozart, Stravinsky, Minardi, etc)

One of Brian Meehan's owners (I can't think of his name, but he trades as Roldvale Limited) named some of his horses after his children: David Junior, Jack Junior and Ella Junior.

  3. Well, sort of, not me, but it is still running and winning around 7 fur to 1 mile. Wise Dennis named after the footballer Dennis Wise !!!

  12. I know of 2 .One was a horse called Au Revoir Joan, this horse was so named after the ex-wife of the owner who, after leaving his wife(Joan)bought himself a horse and suitably named it.!! the horse won for him and was a good therapy for the man in question. She won a race at the odds of 33-1 and the owner gave me my first ever money as a thank you,he gave me £1000 and i will never forget the look on my friends face when i showed him that loot,i had just started training, had very little money and that was a small fortune to me in those days.I was also taken to a club in London but that aint for printing here,i went on to play golf with these lads later but that again is another story that is funny and just about is printable.

The 2nd horse was named after a grandma called Dorris and the horse was called Deadly Dorris, she won for the owner and retired to be a brood mare.I trained both of them and a lot of fun was had by all concerned.

There was a 3rd,it was called Beauluxblair,i named it just before the general election but the jockey club banned it from running under that name(say it fast) and i had to rename the animal.

  13. Yes, a female friend of mine named her horse after me, it was called Mr Fantastic
