  1. hiya hun depending on where abouts in the UK you are, figure roughly between £15 -£25 per 30 minutes for a PRIVATE lesson, group lessons are generally around the same amount but for 60minutes, to begin with borrow a hat from your riding school, and i would only really invest in a pair of jods (NOT NYLON ...they are SO uncomfy!!) and a pair of boots ...either long or short, and do yourself a favour go to a supermarket such as a large tesco / aldi for them as they will be so much cheaper than a tack shop, if you decide you love riding... then you can invest in a better set..

good luck and most of all ENJOY!!!

    x*x

  2. A riding hat (velvet covered) £25 for a basic. £150 for a showy one. I paid £39.99 last week for a really nice one.

    Cotton gloves £6.00, leather £30

riding johd boots, starting at £19.95

    Half chaps, starting at £14.95

riding breeches/johds, starting at about £18.00.

That is all you really need to start with.

half hour private lessons start at about £15.00

Group lessons for 1 hour about £25.00

It is worth noting , a lot of riding schools offer reduced rates, if you can ride between 10am-3pm week days.

  3. idk how "pounds" work but all i can say is in american dollars. it is very expensive..

  4. pounds doesnt work when dealing with money honey.  but in american dollars then like cost of clothes depends on what discipline you do and lessons have to do with how good your trainer is, so like yah. call a horse center and ask how much they charge

  5. My horseriding lessons are like, 15 pounds per lesson, and i spent about around a tenner on boots, six quid on a top ( i got it really big, to go over my jodpurs ;D), uhhh, about six quid on jodpurs, but you could just wear leggings, and my helmet is free with the lesson, and my thign that looks lyke a life jacket was about a tenner.

    (:

what horse riding centre you go to?

    it could vary, tbh. (:

  6. Hiya, I think it varies greatly on where you shop and what brands, some are sooo expensive. I've shopped a lot here http://www.robinsons-uk.com/, they make their own items and are a lot cheaper. I find saddlerys tend to be much more expensive and they don't always have a great choice. I reckon to start out with you need a pair of jodhpurs, boots (short) and chaps, gloves and a hat. A whip if you feel you need one but riding schools have lots to borrow usually.

Riding school prices can vary too, I think mine used to be about £18 for an hour..

  7. i dunno about pounds but a normal riding lesson is like 35 dollars and normal riding clothes are about the same as normal stuff...like a pair of jods may cost the same as a pair of jeans, but for shows its more expensive.

    tayloreds are like 250 each

    coat is like 300-1200

    boots 200-300

    shirts is like 40

helmets is like 200-400, maybe more

    its expensive

    its all in american dollars.

  8. You want to be comfortable in riding.  Show clothes cost anywhere from $100 + depending where you shop or if you are sewing your own.

If you are just riding at home, then wear jeans and shirt and by all means shoes with heel or boots.  A beginner should never wear tennis shoes for safety reasons.

  9. Whether you'll need "riding clothes" and other specifics, depends on the dicipline you are going into, and where/who you are taking lessons from. Some places require formal riding attire during lessons, others don't. If you are planning on getting into showing, I would wait on the clothes until after you've worked with your trainer, and then go to them for advice on good places to acquire the attire you'll need.

I personally, just ride in jeans and a t-shirt. I wear a helmet, it cost me about $40-$50 [US] and lace up boots, which were $100. Besides that, you shouldn't need to worry about what to where to lessons and just general time around the horses. It's supposed to be fun, right? Why get all stuffy?

While I can't tell you in pounds how much the average lesson would cost, I can say it really depends on where you are going, and what you're getting into. Are you looking into a high-level place, with a show-trainer? Are they extremely well known? Are you getting into dressage, or show jumping? These all tend to up the price. If you are just going for basic lessons at your "basic" stable, i.e. no fancy-pants grand prix status, then it should definitely be affordable, however, if your market is anything like it is out here in CA, USA, then it will probably still cost a bit.

  10. if you can transpose the american dollars into pounds i'll you from my personal experience

all my show clothers were 800 dollars

and my lessons are 45 dollars for an hour lesson, unless its a private lesson then its 45 dollars per half hour.

and my shows cost me about 100 each time

    best of luck

  11. riding clothes ... depends what you want, ill do a list of the things you'll need, im presuming your a beginner and starting fresh.

    1) a hat!!! if you are a beginner when you go for lessons most riding schools let you borrow them, sometimes for a small fee, id do this to start with incase you dont like riding save spending out on a hat.

    2) riding boots. these can either be jodphur boots - smal ankle boots- or long boots - knee high. you can also wear chaps or gaiters over short boots to protect your legs plus they look better! again dont spend out o nthese just yet a pair of wellies should be fine for the first few weeks but no trainers!!!

    3) jodphurs. these are the tight trousers we wear..they come in alsorts of styles and every colour under the sun!! again to start of with leggings or something smilar would be fine

    4) on top just a t-shirt and fleece or maybe a waterproof jacket epending on the weather etc. make sure everything is zipped up so it doesnt spoojk the horse

    5) other things you may want as you improve...

a bodyprotector - mainly for cross country, jumping or for simple protection

a whip?? most riding schools provide these though

i cant think of much else you would actually need.

    right prices

a starter hat, i got mine for £40 cus its a junior size its just a simple velvet one but you can also get skull caps with silks or like ventilated hats depending on what you want it for and how much you want to spend

boots - jodphur boots - £20 maybe? thats just basic ones, better ones obv. increase in price. long boots - rubber starter boots £30-35 leather are a lot more

basic jods £25-30 probably less from like robinsons www.robinsons-uk.com they do a catalogue aswell

riding lesson - group lesson  1 hr- £15- 25 depending on the instructor and how many in the group and wherebouts you live

private £25- 35 for an hour unless you have a top instructor then it will be more

im guessing these from what they are where i live and when i started.

hope this helped ive probably made no sense and missed loads out and got everything wrong!!

  12. The average price seems to be around £18 for a 1 hour group lesson.

You should be able to get jodhs for around £20, boots start at around £20 as well. Last time I bought a hat was last year and it cost £36.

Gloves are always a good idea - you can get cotton ones with grippy bits on them for about £2.50 - they don't last an awfully long time but they do the job okay.

This is a good place for shopping -
