  1. I'm suprised that you've had 4 answers and yet no one has told you how to measure for the rug. Measure from the middle of the horse's chest to the hind quarters (as in where the breast buckles are to the end of the rug). Headcollar wise, you're probably looking at Cob size.

  2. He would probably be a cob headcollar and bridle size though different brands come up different sizes.  With the rug it really does depend on the length of his back and could be anywhere from 5'9 to 6'6.  Have you tried asking his existing owners about size?  If not then waity until you get him and try on a few other peoples to get the right size.

  3. My 15 hand horse takes a 76" blanket, but beware that manufacturers may have sizing differences between them.  The halter would probably be cob sized, but get one that has adjustments both over the crown and around the nose.

  4. i have a 15hh traditional cob and he is 6ft 3ins so i would suggest around 6ft maybe 6ft 3. hope this helps.

also to your headcollar question, i suggest a cob. my cob is cob in headcollar but full in bridle. headcollars are bigger than bridles. hope it helps

  5. Whats a rug? Do you mean a blanket?

  6. I have a 15.2 hh Fat horse, as round as a pumpkin! He is generally a 6"0 rug but can fit into a 5"9! He is also a cob! If you are going to have a couple of rugs, id have the bottom one or 2 as a 5"9 and the top ones as 6"0. Also i rekon he would be a cob. But i dont think there is much difference in a 5'9and a 6'0, so if you thought he may fill out or get rounder once you get him than you may be better just going with 6'0!

  7. Don't take opinions - a horse can be fat, thin, all sorts of different body styles that will affect blanket/rug size and or head size.

    Measure the horse:

for the blanket, measure from the middle of his chest around his side (across the shoulder, barrel and hips) to directly between his "cheeks" under his tail.  This is the proper way to measure for a blanket or rug.  I say he'll run between a 72" and could even go up to a 78" or more.

For halter size, I assume that's the other one you're looking for - measure from the place the halter's cheek piece would go, just below his cheek bone to right below his ear - this is the main difference - the length of the overall halter as the crown (behind the ears) and around the nose are often adjustable.

    Hope this helps.

  8. 5ft 9 to 6ft depending on the make.

  9. he's probably about a 6ft-6ft3! but you could measure him when you get him! take a tape measure nd measure straight across from the front of the chest, to the end of his bum. Slender horses also take smaller rugs than a chunkier horse would, so makesure its not huge around the base of the neck to where you will do it up on the breast strap. As for the headcollar, he is probably a big cob, so hold a few headcollars against each other nd pick either the smallest full/large, or the biggest cob/meduim headcollar.
