  1. Defenetly do egg and spoon, that is really fun. I am 13, and I have done those. Do whatever you like best. Or you can do all of them. There arent many of them, so if you think you and your horse can, so them.

  2. okay, if you go thru and pick classes on weather you think you can place or not, then when ever will you get the chance to have that experance to get you to where you are able to place in more classes?

go into a class if you think it'll be a. fun b. something you like. i find it funny, telling someone not to try if they dont think they'll place, how will you know if you dont try.

sign up for all those classes you mentioned, seem about right and fun.  go to a show and have fun, that's my best suggestion, if you're unsure ask you're trainer.

    showmanship-go for it, you'll learn.

halter class-go for it, you'll lean from it.

fuzziest horse/pony class- go for it, it just sounds too cool/fun to pass up.

wal/trot-go for it, again you'll learn.

western pleasure- if you have the clothing for it(most girls i know/seen go in with really expensive outfits that look really good)

egg and spoon-again it's a fun class, so go for it.

  3. my first horse show I only entered one class, 'western pleasure'.    the judge will tell the speaker what he/she wants you to do.  first they'll have you walk (in a big circle), then trot, then lope, then stop, back up, reverse.

it is important to correct your horse if they are in the 'wrong lead when loping.  when going in a circle to the left, the correct lead would be the left should/leg should be reaching out further.

it doesn't hurt you if your horse takes the wrong lead unless you don't correct it.  to correct it you can slow your horse down to a trot, kick with the right heel (if going in a circle to the left).  you don't have to slow down to a trot to change leads,

halter and showmanship will not be you riding, you lead your horse in on a halter, in showmanship they are judging you and not the horse, in halter they are judging the horse and the horse's confirmation (bone structure).

walk/trot is a riding class, that won't include loping.  it is a good place to start if you don't know your leads.  if you don't know about leads, then you won't place in western pleasure.

ask someone to teach you about leads if you don't already know.  it is not hard, just a detail you have to be aware about and check for.  any fellow horse lover should know if they go to horse shows.

another thing u could do is have someone video you practice.  have a western pleasure practice class at you or someone else's arena, have a mom or dad video the class so you can see how you did and critique yourself.

    trust me it really helps.

  4. Think about what you and your horse can do best and enter that class.  Don't enter a class you know nothing about because you won't place.  Also, you can ask someone that knows a lot about horse shows to help you decide.
